McConnell: 'We could do with a little less drama from the White House'

Source: Politico

By LOUIS NELSON 05/16/17 09:49 AM EDT

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday that he and his GOP colleagues on Capitol Hill could use a break from the near constant stream of controversy emerging from the White House as they continue to push forward with an aggressive package of conservative legislation.

“I think we could do with a little less drama from the White House on a lot of things so that we can focus on our agenda, which is deregulations, tax reform and repealing and replacing Obamacare,” McConnell (R-Ky.) said in an interview Tuesday morning with Bloomberg TV.

His comments came in response to reporting from the Washington Post, which published a story Monday evening alleging that President Donald Trump had disclosed highly sensitive intelligence to two top Russian diplomats during an Oval Office meeting last week. White House national security adviser H.R. McMaster disputed the story with a statement delivered to reporters Monday evening that McConnell said “tends to refute the story, rebut the story.”

News of Trump’s alleged sharing of classified information with Russian officials closely followed another Russia-related controversy that the president kicked off last week with his surprise firing of FBI Director James Comey, who was at the time overseeing the bureau’s investigation into possible ties between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.

McConnell: Senate 'can't take forever' on health care

By MADELINE CONWAY 05/16/17 09:57 AM EDT

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday declined to put a timeline on passing health care legislation, but said the Senate “can’t take forever” on it.

“We can’t take forever,” McConnell told Bloomberg TV, citing instability in the individual insurance market. “I don’t think we have forever to address this, but I’m not going to put a strict timeline on it.”

House Republicans passed a revised version of their proposal to repeal and replace parts of the Affordable Care Act earlier this month, after a failed attempt in late March. That bill is likely too conservative to pass the Senate, and lawmakers in the upper chamber have since been working on their own version of the legislation.

McConnell told Bloomberg that Republican senators are currently in “intense” meetings on health care three days a week.

so his wife got a job in the administration. McCain's wife is expecting one, too, so little Johnny will be on tRump's side, too. Newticles Gingrich's wife is expecting to be named ambassador to the Vatican!! I guess committing adultery for six long years will finally pay off for her. Is there a Tiffanys in Rome?

So sick of these people and tRump!! They have got to go!!

He had a nearly scandal-free presidency. Yet McConnell and the rest of the GOPers created their own drama and constantly feigned outrage over non-existent White House drama they invented.

So, McConnell and the rest are getting all the drama they deserve.

"... focus on our agenda, which is deregulations, tax reform and repealing and replacing Obamacare"

So... If Trump keeps up the drama Dems might buy enough time to build up more support and win enough seats in '18 to stop the 'Cons from finishing their job of destroying this country's economy, poor, veterans, seniors, disabled, middle-class, etc to line the pockets of the rich... that might work...

Unfortunately the way he's going WWIII seems like a good possibility too if he keeps up the 'drama'.

Dump campaigned on draining the swamp....but he really did not refer to what party?

Furthermore, Democrats are becoming involved and educated (you Rublicans woke mother bear)....while you have sang your continents lullabies and they are sleeping.

Does decreasing the drama mean that you can go back to your quiet, non-sensible, top 1% wealth class....and think that business will go on as usual?

No, people are not going to sit down and be quiet as good children should do. And every step or action Dump does while in the white house....will be objected to! We may have been asleep....but by god we are not now.

So pull up your sleeves, get in the ring, and be prepared.....because the people have spoken!!!!

Which would be the orange thing with all his red roots starting to show. 45 is synonymous with "drama." McCon is implying that Bloomberg and the rest of the media is whamboozling us with "fake" news, so the Repugs keep getting distracted from their marvelous plan to deprive 24 million Americans of their healthcare. The actual real fake news is that the GOP couldn't give a damn - either about the country or the people. Their healthcare plan is designed to cause suffering for millions, and they want to sneak it through ASAP before the CBO has a chance to study it.

of the republicans do NOT care a whit. They are almost all in safe districts full of idiots who have been gerrymandered to the hilt & keep most of them in power. Unless we can mount a real, HUGE voter turnout in 2018, these same spineless evil people will continue to do their best to destroy our country. I just wish the rest of us could pull together & make something happen, but I don't have faith in the human race on the whole. We are lost because most Americans just don't pay attention until something really, REALLY HUGE happens to wake them up, & by then it could be too late.
