House Democrats campaign arm has raised $20 million online so far in 2017, shattering its previous fundraising haul from the last off-year, according to a Thursday announcement.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) raised $20 million in the first several months of the year, which is more than the committee raised in the entirety of 2015 when the Democrats raised $19.7 million.
In 2017, the DCCC's average contribution was $18 and that 2.2 million people have joined the grassroots list since the beginning of the year, with 156,000 first-time donors.
House Democrats fundraising comes as the party looks ahead to the 2018 midterm elections and hopes to turn special elections in Montana and Georgia into upsets. The DCCC is actively building the largest battleground in a decade, and thats a testament to the grassroots energy that were witnessing every day, in every corner of America, said DCCC spokesman Tyler Law.
