Ryan: More audio leaks 'cause for concern'
Source: The Hill
BY SCOTT WONG - 05/19/17 10:17 AM EDT
Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) says the possibility that more secret recordings could be leaked is a cause for concern after a leak emerged from a 2016 House GOP leadership meeting.
Ryan on Friday refused to speculate who might be the culprit, but he agreed that Trump presidential rival Evan McMullin, a former leadership staffer who attended that meeting, was the name on everyones lips in Washington.
As a staffer for GOP Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.), McMullin had been present for many leadership meetings in Ryans office. Last August, the former CIA officer shocked Capitol Hill by announcing an independent bid for the White House.
Im not going to speculate, Ryan told conservative talk radio host Hugh Hewitt, but thats the name most people you hear about.

A month before Donald Trump clinched the Republican nomination, one of his closest allies in CongressHouse Majority Leader Kevin McCarthymade a politically explosive assertion in a private conversation on Capitol Hill with his fellow GOP leaders: that Trump could be the beneficiary of payments from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Theres two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump, McCarthy (R-Calif.) said, according to a recording of the June 15, 2016 exchange, which was listened to and verified by The Washington Post.
House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) immediately interjected, stopping the conversation from further exploring McCarthys assertion, and swore the Republicans present to secrecy.
Before the conversation, McCarthy and Ryan had emerged from separate talks at the U.S. Capitol with Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, who had described a Kremlin tactic of financing populist politicians to undercut Eastern European democratic institutions.
*******
More leaks will show that the GOP was well aware of Putin/Russian payments to republicana and
their actions in rigging the 2016 election.

(10,279 posts)members would increase their division, and that may be enough to paralyze the House until 2019. Ryan would try to run for prez in the 2020 election. He would be a very weak candidate.

(218 posts)The cause for concern for me is that THEY KNEW!
They knew Trump was tainted and they went along with the whole show.
They knew Pence knew.
They knew Flynn was compromised and they embraced him.
They knew that Ivanka vacationed with Putin's girlfriend and they looked the other way.
They knew that Jared was involved with some shady money schemes and they clapped him on the back, "Good job, son."
They knew that they were pushing America and her people over the cliff and they put their hands out for the loose gold.
It was self before party.
It was party before country.
It was, "What can I get out of this before it all caves in."
This quote by John Kenneth Galbraith covers it all, "The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness."

(17,427 posts)How's it feel to have something leaked? You didn't even need Wikileaks for it to happen. It's internal to your caucus.
Turnabout is fair play dude. I hope your cause for concern turns into a forest fire. No, on second thought, make that an iceberg for the Titanic you are sailing on.

(2,894 posts)And how deeply was the GOP involved?"
Why is the speaker so blasé about Russian meddling? Maybe because he knows it helped the GOP win close races

https://www.salon.com/2017/03/03/how-much-did-russian-hacking-affect-congressional-races-and-how-deeply-was-the-gop-involved/
<<....But its important to remember that DNC and Hillary Clintons campaign chair, John Podesta, were not the only targets of hacking. Russian agents also allegedly hacked the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. That story has been scandalously undercovered, something for which Paul Ryan is no doubt very grateful.
On Dec. 13 The New York Times published an article that laid out how the hacked material was used in various House races. At first the hackers just released a lot of personal information, which was used by hostile individuals to harass and threaten the candidates. Then the hacks and dumps by the person or group known as Guccifer 2.0 became more sophisticated and targeted certain close races, releasing politically valuable tactical information:
The seats that Guccifer 2.0 targeted in the document dumps were hardly random: They were some of the most competitive House races in the country. In [Annette] Taddeos district [in Florida], the House seat is held by a Republican, even though the district leans Democratic and Mrs. Clinton won it this year by a large majority....
... But it is highly unlikely that Republican strategists or party officials with strong knowledge of the House campaigns didnt collude with the hackers at some point, because its difficult to believe that Russians would have which House races to target without some help from people with expertise concerning the 2016 map.
Republican congressional leaders must be thanking their lucky stars daily that the Trump administration is such a scandal-ridden Dumpster fire. If things ever calm down in the White House, somebody might just turn his or her attention to the question of what Paul Ryan knew and when.>>

I hope this is true, as I would love to see all the traitors out of office, including Drumpf, Pence, Sessions, Ryan & McTurtle. All are guilty of collusion and need to (figuratively) hang for it.
