SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- California Democrats meet Saturday with renewed optimism about their party's chances of adding to their huge majority among the state's 53-member congressional delegation and potentially tipping the balance of power in the U.S. House.

In a state where Democrats are itching to lead the liberal resistance to Trump and the Republican Congress, the party's activists find themselves singularly united behind the goal of stunting the GOP.

But the Democrats are also a party divided, still nursing deep divisions between insurgent supporters of Bernie Sanders and the party's establishment wing.

The divide was on clear display Friday as they opened their annual three-day convention in Sacramento. Activists demanding government-funded health care for all residents stormed into the convention center and interrupted an introductory speech by Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg with chants about corporate greed.

So much for a united front but who cares, right. They had a point to make and couldn't find a more civil way to present it. That was deplorable.

A good weapon that Republicans will almost certainly try to use is anything that will cause divisions among Democrats.

How they repeatedly voted against 911 first responders, how they selfishly voted themselves a better health plan than the plan they want for everyone else to suffer, how they want to take away the security of everyone's health
care PROTECTIONS, including, very important to keep repeating, employer based, to give almost a trillion dollars in tax breaks to the rich. Explain that the inheritance tax only applies to estates over millions and millions of dollars, less that 1% of the population. Yet urgency to eliminate the Estate Tax before the Koch Brothers or Sheldon Adelson or any of their old filthy puppetmasters (or in Issa's case, worth 220 million, himself) die fuels
their ridiculous obsession. Surely there have been GOP votes in the House against legalizing marijuana and cite the GOP budget they all just voted for that squelches drug treatment. The list is endless of their repugnant positions and votes.

Republican votes and priorities need to be publicized and stressed. Running an antiTrump campaign is indirect and lazy, he's not the Republican needing outster to win back the House. We need all the Ca Republicans out of office and their voting records are their greatest enemy to reelection. Antitrump campaign blame stops at Trump, they can wiggle away from it. But an anti GOP incumbent campaign and their own despicable voting records made public, that they cannot fight against.

Isn't it time to stop letting these jerks get away with the fraud of voting one way then sanctimoniously claiming they represent the interests of their constituents. It's the hypocrisy of this contradiction that has fed the anger and resistance of these town halls. Dems have got to start fighting intelligently, recognizing where the real fight and GOP vulnerability lies to win back the House and Senate.
