McCain Walks Back Watergate Comparison

Source: Political Wire

May 22, 2017 By Taegan Goddard

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) walked back earlier comments that the controversy surrounding investigations into potential collusion between associates of President Trump and the Russian government had reached “Watergate size and scale,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

Said McCain: “Now the question is, how is it handled? Is it handled the way Watergate was where it’s drip, drip, drip, every day more, or do we handle it like the—like Ronald Reagan handled Iran Contra? It was a scandal. He fired people. He went on national television and said, we made mistakes, we did wrong and we’re not going to do it again and the American people let him move forward.”

What the hell is McCain spouting?

...and then Bush pardoned the lot of them, so we would never know the full extent of what happened or hold anyone accountable.

Not "our entire political system has been infiltrated and corrupted by dark money and foreign states to the point where even our elections aren't real."

He'd like it to be just a one-off. I bet he would.

He his just a craven little man who speaks nice in front of the cameras and then go and do nasty deeds when the camera goes off. All we need to know about McCain is Sarah Palin. A decent and courageous man would never have chosen her as a running mate.

HE is a political opportunist who will twist in the wind to not offend his big money donors. The guy should have been voted out in 2016. He should have an expiration date.

Always with the mavericky comments, then gets on the Sunday shows *again*, then walks back, rinse and repeat. I really wish he would have retired by now.

I think McCain just wants to make sure he gets his fair share of media attention. So he pops up once in awhile to be all mavericky and insinuate that he holds a slightly different opinion than those that support the president. He may even threaten that 'something must be done, dammit!' He gets his 15 minutes, and then takes it back, or smooths it over, and shrinks back into the woodwork. Worse than useless.

Seems like he's the senile one, but it's probably just him trying to have it both ways, like always. He is contemptible, just like his entire political party. There is no way in 7 hells that Drumpf would admit his collusion with Russia was a mistake, NEVER. He will never admit personal wrong doing, never has, never will. He's too full of himself and too stupid and too focused on getting what Putin promised him and doing what ever it takes to enable the promised payoff. If anyone outs him, other than FBI or other Intelligence service, it will be Putin when he's ready to fuck us over even worse by releasing tapes of Repugs all over the place conspiring with Russia to steal the election.

Not holding my breath either.

Arizona, meh!

I don't think we can expect anything better, regardless who holds that seat.
