"GOOD GRIEF. This is serious," said Bob Deitz, a veteran of the NSA and the CIA who worked under the Clinton and Bush administrations.
"This raises a bunch of problematic issues. First, of course, is the Logan Act, which prohibits private individuals conducting negotiations on behalf of the US government with foreign governments," Deitz said. "Second, it tends to reinforce the notion that Trump's various actions about [fired FBI Director James] Comey do constitute obstruction."
"In other words, there is now motive added to conduct," Deitz noted. "This is a big problem for the President."

Just can't wrap my head around this...Just imagine if this was any other President, either party. Today's GOP is willing to look the other way in the face of outright treason.

No they are not going to roll over. They are going to apply corporate deniability
and suppress free speech as a means to try to coverup or hinder any investigation.
This is an attempt to change government from the public good to private interest.
The concept of 'treason' is not something these people think about.

(1,786 posts)and one even said that he regretted his vote. Now he might not be the hard core Trumpster since he is not a racist or a Misogynist, but he did fall for some of the "outsider" hype. I think he now sees that an outsider might not be the best person to run a Presidency.
I think there are still a lot out there who are now changing their minds, and this might help come midterms. I'm not talking about the hard core deplorable, but rather those who aren't into politics as much as many here and are susceptible to quick fix political con jobs.

(46,697 posts)That is the down side of nepotism. It will be hard for Trump to claim plausible deniability when he went out on a limb for Jared with security clearances.

(12,409 posts)He will admit to collusion with the reds for the purpose of defeating Hillary, the evil press, and the imagined dark forces that have taken over our nation.
He will declare victory once again and urge his minions to keep wearing their red hats in support.
Republicans in Congress will breath a sigh of relief and go on to win the next election cycle.
My thoughts remain dark in these times; so far all I have feared has transpired.
Thinking of following my grandfathers example and getting the hell out of here.
