Kushner under pressure to take hiatus from White House: report
Source: MSN/The Hill
Administration officials close to President Trump are reportedly pushing White House advisor Jared Kushner to take a leave of absence amidst recent reports that he is under FBI scrutiny.
The FBI is reportedly interested in Kushner as part of its investigation into Russia's meddling in the presidential election.
A Sunday report on ABC News' "This Week" said members of the Trump circle are wondering if Kushner will need to step aside.
Reports last week said Kushner, who is also Trump's son-in-law, had come under scrutiny in the FBI's Russia probe over his contacts with the Russian ambassador and a Russian banking executive.

You have to wonder whether the real source of the leaks might be someone in the White House whose star has once again rose in light of the questions surrounding Kushner.

THE INSIDE STORY OF THE KUSHNER-BANNON CIVIL WAR
Bannon had been viewed as one of the two (with Kushner) most powerful members of the West Wing team, and for a time was referred to (reportedly with his own tacit encouragement) as President Bannona joke that isnt a joke. He keeps a personal publicist and is the self-appointed guardian of the issues that matter to the base that got Trump elected. But, according to a senior administration official, Bannons effort to put himself on the National Security Council, without Trump having been fully briefed, made Ivanka and Jared suspicious of his motives. This was honestly a dark-of-night operation, this official told me. Similarly, the bungled implementation of the travel ban didnt win any points for Bannon. According to a senior official close to the president: You could have told Homeland Security to really start doing their jobs. You didnt have to sign an executive order and piss in everyones face.

Steve Bannon, the former Breitbart editor who is now chief strategist to President Donald Trump, may be returning to his boss good graces.
Nine sources with connections to Trump report to Axios that the perception of Bannon as a wartime consigliere have caused his stock to rise with the president as his administration continues to be dragged down by allegations that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russian government. As one source told the site, It is now very clear that there is a unified opponent and thats ultimately the swamp, both with regard to the deep state leakers, to the partisan opponents and the people who just dont want to give up their power. That includes the media.

Christopher Ruddy, the CEO of Newsmax and a friend of Trumps, told the site that Bannons strength is being super savvy dealing with the media and dealing with crises.
Bannon is expected to oversee a legal team despite not being a lawyer himself that is expected to include many prominent names, according to a report by the Washington Post. Trumps longtime attorney Marc Kasowitz is expected to be a leading player on the team. Other names being rumored include Robert Giuffra, Theodore Olson and Reid Weingarten.

(9,291 posts)they average American voter. Do they even think about this? Have they spent half an hour research on how the average Russian lives? I'm not talking about watching the Americans TV show, I'm talking reality.
They must do some very short term thinking, if they do any at all.

(2,003 posts)Among the people who put Trump in the White House, you'll find few fans of "Prince Jared" and "Princess Ivanka" as they are referred to condescendingly by many on the right, believing they are a liberal influence. These people want to see less Jared Kushner and more Steve Bannon and would be perfectly happy at whatever misfortune befalls Kushner that would make this happen.

It is ludicrous that we have spent decades tolerating immigrants, who represent core American values, and now that they are here and working or going to school we are criminalizing them.

(15,286 posts)Ultimately Bannon will not and cannot win if it comes down to a choice between family (Jared/Ivanka) and him for Trump. However, at the moment Bannon can provide what Trump needs more than anything - adulation from his base.
Bannon heading up Trump's legal defense team is laughable. The lawyers will be put in a position to go on record with lies and ridiculous arguments. The lawyers will want Trump to shut up, but Bannon will push Trump to keep speaking out and tweeting. It's not likely to end well.

(15,286 posts)but Trump has no loyalty to Bannon. Right now Bannon has a plan to help Trump get the adulation he craves. When Bannon can't do that anymore or the plan turns out badly, Trump will dump Bannon like yesterday's trash.
