Dozens arrested at health care demonstration in North Carolina

Source: CBS

North Carolina NAACP leader Rev. William Barber is among more than 30 people arrested inside the state Legislative Building as they protested Republican lawmakers' refusal to expand Medicaid coverage.

Several tweets from the demonstration showed Barber being escorted in plastic hand restraints, as well as numerous protesters being blocked from entering the state legislator's offices.

General Assembly Police Chief Martin Brock says 32 people were taken into custody Tuesday and face charges of second-degree trespassing after holding a sit-in to push for Medicaid expansion and preserving the federal health care law passed under former President Barack Obama.

Dozens of protesters marched through the hallways to the offices of legislative leaders, where other protesters sat outside. Brock says the arrests began after officers received complaints.

The demonstration marks the latest action from Barber and his allies, who have been protesting GOP policies since 2013. More than 1,000 people have been arrested as a result.

#MarchForTruth promises to be peaceful but Repub are getting nervous and are acting more aggressively toward the Resistance. The marches are to get public awareness and support for an independent commission to investigate all things Russia. It's necessary to get this so that it will be a completely non partisan investigation that the fake prez and GOP can't derail. Also, it can get his tax and business records, will be done fairly quickly, will have full staffing and resources, and will let the public know what it finds. Then, and only then, will we be able to trust our government again. The Congressional committees and Mueller and the FBI won't be able to accomplish this. Dems in the house have introduced a bill calling for an independent, separate commission to investigate (it's similar to the 9/11 Commission) but it faces an uphill battle in the Repub controlled House. Google #Marchfortruth to find a rally near you and read more info.

a few hundred people a day, lying down in front of Congresscritters as they leave from a hard day's work of slashing medical benefits could help make the point...
and the "best" part? after Congress finishes destroying the health care system, we won't even have to pretend to die - just go there when you're terminal and let the GOP extermination squads clean up the bodies
