Bernie Sanders isnt backing Tim Canova in his second bid against Wasserman Schultz

Source: McClatchy DC

WASHINGTON
In the summer of 2016, Tim Canova was the South Florida proxy for the dying embers of Bernie Sanders’ presidential bid.

After Sanders endorsed — on national television — Canova’s bid to oust Debbie Wasserman Schultz from her congressional seat, the Nova Southeastern University law professor raked in millions from disaffected liberal Democrats around the country upset with her leadership of the Democratic National Committee and her perceived favoritism toward Hillary Clinton during the Democratic primary.

“Clearly I favor her opponent, his views are much closer to mine than to Wasserman Schultz’s,” Sanders said in May 2016.

Last week, Canova announced he will challenge Wasserman Schultz again in 2018 despite a 14-point loss in the Democratic primary to the longtime congresswoman from Weston.

This Canova is becoming toxic. We don't need any elected Democrats from the Alex Jones wing of the party.

that because of Bernie, but if he lost by 14 pts it seems to me we should at least see if there's a better candidate available.

Let's focus on beating republicans not our fellow democrats.

And Bernie created this guy and owns him. Without his endorsement we would have never heard of him.

Too bad Bernie is not a member of our party. We would not have to worry about him encouraging people to run against democrats in 2018.

They couldn't care less about throwing the Republicans out. They just want to throw the women out of the Democratic Party.

We Democrats need to start confronting the sexism in our own ranks. Sexism gave us Donald Trump. We will continue to ignore it at our peril.

They can decide if they want a new person repping them, not outsiders. I'm not a DWS fan, but she is a DEMOCRAT, and my friends in her district, who are very, very liberal, like her, because she is very responsive to her constituents.

We need to get out GOP pols, not Dem ones.

Canova has also spread conspiracy theories about murdered DNC staffer Seth Rich, and implied that Wasserman Schultz tried to hack his computer after announcing his reelection bid last week.

In January, Canova wrote on Facebook that Rich “may have been the Wikileaks source of the leaked DNC emails. He was gunned down, assassinated under suspicious circumstances just days after publication of those leaked emails.”

And last week he tweeted, “Announced last night 8 p.m. run vs. @DWSTweets again. At 2 a.m. my computer was attacked & surge protector fried. Same happened last campaign.”

Canova deleted the Facebook post and tweet.

His love for going on RW radio, and his love for RW buddies, kinda shows that. The only reason he did as well as he did last time (ie not losing by 40 points), is because of the anti-HRC hysteria by some on the left.

This is odd:

“I have no idea about Tim Canova, I honestly don’t,” Sanders said when asked if he plans to support Canova’s second bid against Wasserman Schultz. “I know nothing about Tim Canova.”

Is he saying he has no idea about Canova's new bid? Or no idea about him in general?

He hangs out with wingnuts and goes on wingnut radio shows, etc. I am close to DWS district and have friends who are in DWS district, and her constituents LOVE her -- she does a lot for them. And, my friends are good lefties.

I am not the biggest DWS fan, but I would never even think of voting for a Gabbardesque, inexperienced guy over DWS.

Bernie just backed Canova the first time out of spite.

That's a leading line and a cheap shot at that! I read that article and there is NOTHING in there that hints to that.

But there is this from that link:

“I have no idea about Tim Canova, I honestly don’t. I know nothing about Tim Canova.” - Bernie Sanders.

If that line is true, and he really said that, then I regret my voting for Bernie in the primary.
