Manchin: Senate can do 'an awful lot' to improve healthcare bill
Source: The Hill
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) on Sunday said there is room for improvement in the plan unveiled by Senate Republicans to repeal and replace ObamaCare.
Theres an awful lot that can be done to improve it, Manchin told CBSs Face the Nation.
Manchin said that if Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) does not have the votes to pass the legislation, then he should scrap the bill and allow bipartisan working groups to develop a new plan.
Manchin, who is up for reelection in 2018 in a state President Trump won by a large margin, characterized the GOP bill in the upper chamber as even worse than the legislation passed last month by the House.
Since the bills unveiling last week, five Senate Republicans have said they will vote no on the legislation.
