President Donald Trump told CBN founder Pat Robertson on Wednesday that Russian president Vladimir Putin wanted his rival Hillary Clinton to win the 2016 presidential election.

The president denied widespread reports that the Russian government had meddled in the 2016 election because they favored him. Trump said Putin didn’t like that he was a “big military person” — but that Clinton would have “decimated” the U.S. military.

“And from day one I want fracking and everything else to get energy prices low and to create tremendous energy,” he said during the interview. “We’re going to be self-supporting, we just about are now. We’re going to be exporting energy – he doesn’t want that. He would like Hillary where she wants to have windmills. He would much rather have that because energy prices would go up and Russia as you know relies very much on energy.”

“So there are many things that I do that are the exact opposite of what he would want,” Trump continued. “So what I keep hearing about that he would have rather had Trump, I think ‘probably not,’ because when I want a strong military, you know she wouldn’t have spent the money on military.”

I was at local car dealer picking up an oil change kit yesterday. TV in the waiting area was tuned to CNN, the usual stuff was pouring off the screen. CNN ran a video clip of Trump speaking -- IMMEDIATELY 4 of the 5 people in the waiting area said "Change the channel !!! I can't stand listening to that SOB!!!"

No one is paying attention to Trump.

I see plenty of Trump supporters, but far more people that are sick of him. I don't know where the supposed 1/3+ of voters are. I know my sister lives out in the hinterlands and says its all Trumpsters there, but the county population is less than 10,000.

It seems like his big supporters are the wealthy or at least well off, and the poor & ignorant I was trying to see a common denominator. The best I could come up with is they all have some form of entitlement thinking. Its funny because many of them would bitch about people acting entitled, totally blind to their own beliefs; they were born here so they were better, they are the right color, they have more wealth because they are right with God, and on and on. Guess I am just lucky there aren't many directly in my face.

Putin wanted a close election.

He didn't think tRump likely to win so he aided tRump.

He wanted to destabilize the US government and have it politically divided.

With the House and Senate solidly Republican, President Clinton would have difficulty in achieving much.

With some in the Legislature possibly beholding to or blackmailed by the Russians, Putin might achieve some reductions in sanctions and other wish list items.

Every tenth word President Clinton spoke would start another congressional investigation.

His goal was to strengthen Russia in respect to the US, but this entails economic strength as much or more than it does military strength. As to tRump or Clinton in the White House being better for this goal, I cant be sure which would be better for Putin, but I'm leaning toward tRump's ineffectual management style as to weakening the US the most.
