The stop sign is the warning you see (with a picture of a stop sign) when you go to write your post. It warns you to check to see if the story has already been posted in LBN by someone else.

It doesn't matter if the source of the story is different (like NBC for the first, and CBS for the second). As far as "changing", I think that was my error, for which I apologize. I saw the NYT in your title and then saw TPM in your thread body when I went to make the reply. So I thought you had first posted an NYT article and then changed it to TPM. Sorry.

Secondly, when stating facts briefly, it may appear to some to be "heavy", but it's just facts.

1) It was a duplicate.

2) The link to the duplicate was given. Thus people can follow to the original which will NOT be locked and the discussion can proceed there and not become blocked part way through.

3) Read the stop sign to avoid the problem entirely. It's in red borders. It has a picture of a stop sign. It explains the whole deal. It even lists the last FIVE threads posted right there.

4) It is LBN forum policy that a different source is not a different story. So I stated that.

I have already apologized to the poster about my mistake about "changed".

It is so simple to avoid this whole problem:

1) Compose your post first.

2) Look before you post.

3) Look again after posting in case another poster was first. If that happened, simply self-delete the duplicate post.
