(11,175 posts)Someone who's hanging in there -- State Department, White House, somewhere else, I forget where -- said (anonymously of course) that he was disgusted, but that if he left, he'd be replaced by someone really bad. By grimly hanging on he was able to prevent some bad stuff that would otherwise happen.
If an officer is staying under those circumstances, he or she is taking one for the team. I'd consider that honorable.

(21,237 posts)Written in 2009 where he praised Barack Obama in the foreword of the book. Barack Obama Election ushers in a different world. He bashed Bush and said Obama was not walking into an easy or enviable situation. ( reading this I know he did not write it because he doesn't use worlds like that!
I found this book at my sisters while helping her clean out her late right wing husband. I was shocked reading the passage where he said," the world is excited about Barack Obama and the new United States. Let's keep it that way".
I tore out the page where he praised Obama and am saving the book to burn in the winter.
