Democrats Assail Trump Over DACA

As they've done in the past, Democratic leaders are using some of their toughest attack lines to flail a Republican president on social policy. They are calling Donald Trump heartless and cruel for rescinding an executive action, known as DACA, that had protected about 800,000 young immigrants called "dreamers" from deportation.
Amid the furor, Trump wrote on Twitter Tuesday night: "Congress now has 6 months to legalize DACA (something the Obama Administration was unable to do). If they can't, I will revisit this issue!" The tweet seemed to confuse the matter by apparently softening Trump's stance. Trump and his allies have argued that the proper way to protect the "dreamers" is through legislation, not executive action which some find legally questionable.
Democratic President Barack Obama issued the order protecting the immigrants before he left office. He said they entered the United States with their undocumented-worker parents when they were very young, and he argued it was unfair to punish the kids for the illegal entry of their parents.
But on Monday, Trump withdrew the order, delayed its implementation for six months, and threw the issue into the lap of Congress to resolve.
