Battle for Bernie voters backfires in Illinois
Source: Politico
CHICAGO In a move designed to lure Bernie Sanders voters in a competitive Democratic governors primary, a top-tier candidate, Daniel Biss, chose a far-left running mate who was a proud member of the Democratic Socialists of America.
Less than a week later, Biss dropped Chicago Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa from his ticket, amid criticism over Rosas position on Israel.
Biss, a state senator from suburban Evanston, made the announcement on Wednesday, saying the two could not reconcile Rosas support for BDS, or the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement, with regard to Israel.
Blowback from the issue was already affecting other Illinois races and support for Bss.

(11,481 posts)that a rupture on the left from the Democratic Party is inevitable. There are some issues that present a clear divide that cannot be bridged. They are matters of principle and if the Democrats cannot allow for that principle when it disagrees with their stated platform, then how can that divide be reconciled?

It is a state race and he would need initial support from his area of Illinois hmmm places like Wilmette, Skokie, Northbrook, Lincolnwood I would think.
This governor race is very important and very winnable . He is a very good candidate but not completely bonkers.
Biss is not trying to run on unconditional support for Israel either which they may try to label him now.
Aggravating and this state needs to get rid of our gov. pronto that is the most important action needed
2 main candidates for gov are Jewish - Pritzker & Biss

Assuming McCain wouldn't answer "if you have to ask me that, you're too dumb to be running," he would have shouted, "NO!" Either way, it's a question a serious candidate shouldn't have had to ask, especially if he's running for governor of Illinois.
