Upbeat Trump raves to Schumer, Pelosi about news coverage of their deal

Source: Politico

Many Republicans were furious with President Donald Trump's budget deal Wednesday, stunned that the president quickly gave in to Democratic demands to pair hurricane relief with a three-month debt limit hike — though getting nothing in return.

But in calls with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi Thursday morning, Trump raved about the positive news coverage it had received, according to people familiar with the calls, and he seemed very pleased with his decision.

Trump specifically mentioned TV segments praising the deal and indicated he'd been watching in a call with Schumer, two people said. And he was jovial in a call with Pelosi and agreed to send a tweet she asked for about the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, these people said, while also mentioning the attention the deal had gotten. He indicated to both leaders he would be willing to work together again.

"He seemed super upbeat," one person familiar with the calls said.

What an idiot; if he'd waited for Hurricane Irma to strike Florida, think of how much bigger the audience would have been!

Donnie has daddy issues - his father hated him - he's been looking for love ever since and isn't particularly picky about where it comes from.

All he wants is to be admired. If he thinks he'll get great press out of something, he'll do it. He's already said he'd sign the DREAM act. He'd sign medicare-for-all if congress passed it (the only part of health care he cares about is that it isn't Obamacare). So who knows, maybe we can still get some lemonade out of this lemon. Assuming he doesn't, you know, blow up the world or something first.

as we know, Democratic ideas and principals are far more popular than con ideas or principals. Think of how much Pres Obama could have done with a Democratic congress throughout his terms. If donnie sees our ideas get more positive coverage, he wont hesitate to throw the cons - freedom caucus and all - under the bus.

He's got a big stake in the FEMA funding for Florida. This move doesn't surprise me at all.
The GOP has their noses out of joint over nothing.

All he cares about is getting "wins." He doesn't care about the substance of what's included.

If he thinks he has a better shot at "winning" by going along with Democrats, he'll do it - especially if he gets to humiliate McConnell and Ryan.

If Republicans start to turn on him, look out!

There are two and only two standards to apply when evaluating anything this bloodsucking cockroach or his filthy family do:

1) trump does not care about anyone or anything but himself

2) trump wants revenge on the whole world

Trump loves/thrives on/can't live without positive news about himself. If Schumer and Pelosi can go to Trump with other deals they know a large majority of Americans want and know will get positive media coverage, they can work deals with Trump all day long and twice on Sunday.

If they both walked into Trump's office and said "Mr President, we know how to make you great", Trump would jump on it like a dog on a bone.

Trump's been getting nowhere and nothing but bad press from his GOP compadres. If Dems offer him a better deal as in praise and positivity, they can get a lot of good stuff accomplished.

If Dems called their medicare for all plan The Real Ultimate Medical Plan (TRUMP), he'd sign on before they finished talking. It's the great thing about Trump, he has no core beliefs except what makes himself look good in the moment. He's the prototypical tabula rasa.
