Sept 7 (Reuters) - New Mexico on Thursday sued eight opioid manufacturers and wholesale distributors, becoming the latest state or local government to file a lawsuit seeking to hold corporations accountable for a national drug addiction epidemic.

New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas accused Purdue Pharma LP, Johnson & Johnson, Allergan Plc, Endo International Plc and Teva Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd of pushing addictive painkillers through deceptive marketing.

The lawsuit also accused wholesale distributors McKesson Corp, Cardinal Health and AmerisourceBergen Corp of breaching their legal duties to monitor, detect and report suspicious orders of prescription opioids. (Reporting by Nate Raymond in Boston; Editing by Dan Grebler)

I'm not sure what entity(s) took that action, and also unsure how many different entities can shake 'em down for the same offense, legally.

just this week I found out the local hospital is requiring its affiliate Drs. to have opioid patients agree to drug tests if prescribed opiates.
You want a re-fill, pee in a bottle.

naturally, any patients who are selling their drugs would of course take a pill 12 hours before the test.

and isn't it too too ironic that this is Jeff Session's home town???
