Trump blasts own party, calls filibuster 'GOP death wish'

Source: The Hill

BY IAN SWANSON - 09/08/17 08:58 AM EDT

President Trump is blasting Republicans again on Twitter just days after he shocked his own party by agreeing with Democrats on a fiscal deal to the disbelief of the GOP.

Trump called the filibuster a "Repub Death Wish," saying the party would never get anything done under the rule. He also ripped Republicans for promising to deliver ObamaCare repeal for seven years and then failing to do it.

The tweets are sure to be seen in the context of Trump's deal with Democrats, which has both parties wondering if a president who once donated to Democrats might move away from his current party to do more deals with the minority.

Trump praised Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) after agreeing to their terms on a deal to extend the debt limit, fund the government and provide aid to Harvey.

Maybe the real truth is that Cheeto isn't so ultra right-wing after all.
Could be that Bannon was the source of all that evil.

but it also shows how easily manipulated he is. This brief moment of clarity could be replaced with some off-the-wall decision based on a conversation, a newspaper article, or cable news segment. We always have to worry about who is whispering in his ear at any given moment.

Meanwhile, we can enjoy watching the republicans freak out. Can't say they didn't ask for it!

Doesn't he realize that most things they've tried to pass was on a 50 threshhold not 60?

When are the GOP going to figure iout this turd is their hurricane Irma, a massive whirlwind of chaos.

Bannon probably played a role but to start aligning yourself with democrats and causing an internal war within the GOP seems like a deathwish if it alienates his base. The GOP is much more inclined to speed up impeachment. On the risk/reward scale, that was a bad bet.

If this is a genius move, I don't see it, and he's no genius with that business record and history.

I think this is more extreme narcissism at work. There's been blame pointed at Trump by McConnell and the GOP congress and a certain amount of condescension. He's also mad they passed the Russian sanctions bill and haven't been behind him in firing Sessions and Mueller.

Also his MO is to pit people against each other to weaken them and retain control. He seemed remarkably relaxed and pleased after his deal with Schumer/Pelosi - like he put an enemy in their place, confused and disoriented them. Ahhh chaos.

I don't see how or why the GOP would want to keep him if they thought long term. So calculating and yet delusional he could be reigned in. Forget it.
