Booker signs on to Sanders's 'Medicare-for-all' bill

Sen. Cory Booker is throwing his support behind a "Medicare for all" bill being introduced by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), becoming the latest Democrat floated as a 2020 contender to back the legislation.
The New Jersey senator told NJTV News that he would sign on as a co-sponsor of the bill, which is scheduled to be rolled out on Wednesday.
"This is something that's got to happen. ObamaCare was a first step in advancing this country, but I won't rest until every American has a basic security that comes with having access to affordable health care," Booker told the New Jersey outlet.
He added that "you should not be punished because you are working-class or poor and be denied health care. I think health care should be a right to all."

(10,495 posts)We should not have anymore people dying because they cannot afford chemo.
I had to threaten the hospital with patient dumping for trying to refuse my brother admission to the hospital. He was dying and did not know who he was and could not stand and they were going to release him from the ER and send him home. After my threats they admitted him for "Just one night!" He stayed 7 days before he passed. The doctors treating him once he was admitted expressed shock that he was being sent home in his condition.
No More!!!

(12,545 posts)but the answer is the 800 pound gorilla in the room, the waste in the bloated military budget that's been looting the Treasury since Eisenhower warned us in his 1961 Farewell Speech.
The problem lies in defense contractors having so may legislators on the payroll it will take a massive media campaign and many in Congress unafraid to speak out against the corruption of the Military Industrial (Media) Complex.
Any legislator who speaks out against military spending gets assaulted by the media s being weak on the ism of the day, be it communism, socialism, terrorism or whatever they can conjure up to scare the uneducated Pox News / hate radio consumer.
