NBC News' Katy Tur Says Trump Gave Her An Unwanted Kiss On The Cheek

Source: Talking Points Memo

By ESME CRIBB Published SEPTEMBER 12, 2017 11:27 AM

NBC News correspondent Katy Tur wrote in her book published Tuesday that Donald Trump, then a Republican candidate for president, gave her an unwelcome kiss on the cheek during his campaign.

Describing the incident in her book “Unbelievable,” published Tuesday, Tur said Trump kissed her before an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“Before I know what’s happening, his hands are on my shoulders and his lips are on my cheek,” she wrote. “My eyes widen. My body freezes. My heart stops.” Her next thought, according to Tur, was, “I hope the cameras didn’t see that. My bosses are never going to take me seriously.”

Tur was one of Trump’s favorite targets on the campaign trail; he derided her as “little Katy” and called her a “third rate reporter” during a rally, after which Tur said the Secret Service walked her to her car.

People wouldn't think t was a big enough deal. As a reporter you're not supposed to become the story- Trump was already screwing with her reputation and making it about her. Not surprised she thought it wasn't good to bring up in the middle of her assignment.

I will excuse anyone, including Tom Arnold who could have released tapes, and I was mad as hell at him until I heard his side.

He wasnt just fearful for the people who would lose their jobs, because that alone is not a good reason, but he feared for he and his family's life, for real.

I wont judge these people, but I will judge 3rd party voters and non voters, as well obviously as trump voters.

As this is now deemed as mild compared to his other behaviour and statements.

But it gives me a pause to just think, just for a second, at what grief some Democrat like Obama would have gotten while he was President if this came out about his campaign.

It has never been, nor will it ever be appropriate for a Presidential candidate to forcefully kiss a reporter covering their campaign. Never. Not only is it sexually predatory behavior it also destroys respect for both the Office and the Fourth Estate.

Trump has done such a good job of debasing the Office of the President that it's difficult to remember just how much he has distorted what we call normal behavior. His presence dishonors the Presidency. Every day this fat old piece of shit breaks another standard or norm of polite and respectful behavior. It's important to keep pointing out what a hedonistic pig Trump is and just how inappropriate his actions are. When this tasteless, grubby, short fingered vulgarian is finally turfed out of office we will have so much rebuilding to do it not even funny.

because she knew if he won he would continue the horrible campaign rallies and press conferences where he tried to humiliate her and she thought she would never be able to escape covering him every day. As it worked out, MSNBC gave her daily hosting duties where she no longer had to cover him directly. She gave an interesting interview describing this on NPR yesterday.
