Sean Spicer Says He Regrets Berating Reporters Over Inauguration Crowds

Source: New York Times

By GLENN THRUSH and DAVE ITZKOFF SEPT. 18, 2017

During his surprise comedy skit at the Emmys on Sunday, Sean Spicer may have made light of his six-month tenure as the White House press secretary, but a message was also embedded in his performance.

In an interview on Monday morning, Mr. Spicer said he now regrets one of his most infamous moments as press secretary: his decision to charge into the White House briefing room in January and criticize accurate news reports that Barack Obama’s inauguration crowd was bigger than President Donald J. Trump’s.

“Of course I do, absolutely,” Mr. Spicer said.

For Mr. Spicer, who resigned this summer after repeated clashes with the news media and a sharp disagreement with President Trump over the appointment of Anthony Scaramucci as communications director, the Emmys were his latest attempt to ingratiate himself with the largely liberal coastal entertainment and news elites he so acidly disdained as Mr. Trump’s alter-ego spokesman. The once-obscure party spokesman has been elevated to a level of celebrity he scarcely dreamed possible a year ago and, like many before him, he hopes to translate his notoriety into something more reputable and lucrative. So the Emmys were also a chance for Mr. Spicer to cultivate a television industry audience that he may need as he seeks speaking engagements and paid television appearances in his post-White House life.

Exactly. "I regret it" is not the same as an apology. SunSeeker Sep 2017 #9

cemented before the world that he is a joke, a lighthearted bit of entertainment that, professionally, is never--ever--to be taken seriously.

He's not good looking or glib enough to host The Bachelor or sell real estate, so I don't know what he's got planned for the future. I'm sure Trump has him locked in a nondisclosure agreement that takes up five banker's boxes, so no tell-all book can be in the works. All I know is that I wouldn't buy nails from him if he were working at Home Depot.

He will be a laughingstock wherever he goes or whatever he does.

are greeters at Walmart. I know a few, and they are independent folk who still prefer to earn a few bucks on their own before asking for their kids to supplement their income. I'm sure you didn't mean to degrade them in comparison.

The working class is supported as an ethereal concept. But alas, the occupations of those on the lower end of the economic scale are too often used as fodder for jokes and insults.

Please keep in mind, folks: "Do you want Trumps? Because THAT'S how you get Trumps!"

status as a 'ameriKKKan celebrity', I hope to degrade him and hope his life is FULL of humiliation. YEAH< yeah, yeah on the "nice people". I know some too. Why is this board so full of people, so=-called liberals ready to fight with each other over PETTY BS when their are far more dangerous people out their ready to take our freedoms and healthcare. I'm 69 and supplement my pay also, I would be a hypocrite to blame the "greeter" for trying to survive....I am sick of all this stupid assed sniping at each other. THIS IS one of the reasons there is no unity among us and one of the reasons this site has degraded to DI2 and holds no more interesting people barring the true liberals here trying to have their voice heard over the cultish BULLSHIT that has emerged here since GE-2016.

Spicey wants to get back in everyone's good graces.

Tough shit. He treated the journalists horribly. He was demeaning and degrading to people who were just trying to do their jobs. And he loved doing it. You could tell by the smirk on his face.

Screw him. Let Faux News have his sorry ass.
