Cassidy Responds To Kimmel: 'More People Will Have Coverage' With My Plan (VIDEO)

After late night host Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday night slammed Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) for pushing an Obamacare repeal bill that does not pass the so-called Jimmy Kimmel test, Cassidy insisted that his bill actually would protect more Americans.
Im sorry he does not understand. Under Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Johnson more people will have coverage, and we protect those with pre-existing conditions, Cassidy said on CNNs New Day in response to Kimmel. States like Maine, Virginia, Florida, Missouri therell be billions more dollars to provide health insurance coverage for those in those states that have been passed by by ObamaCare.
The bill crafted by Cassidy and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) turns most control of health care over to the states, keeping some of Obamacares taxes in place and giving funds earmarked for health care to states in the form of block grants. The bill would cut funding for Medicaid substantially, causing many people to lose their health insurance. It would allow states to waive key Obamacare rules, such as protections from price-gouging for people with pre-existing conditions.
CNNs Chris Cuomo noted that people may have to pay more for health insurance under the senators bill, but Cassidy claimed that the price will actually be lower.

(1,176 posts)States passed by by the Affordable Care Act. That is an out and out lie. Those states chose not to participate. They just want the cash, ( i.e. block grants ) without having to actually use to provide care.

...it'll be to imply that Kimmel is just an entertainer and he doesn't understand what's going on anyway.
I must be psychic, I tellz ya.

(23,542 posts)with various diseases ie American Heart Association, American diabetes association etc none of them support the bill.
It was excellent for Jimmy and his writers to preempt the talking point of cassidy with those organizations that are fighting this awful bill tooth and nail. Without that it would look more to many like some comedian doesn't know what he is talking about.
I still think Kimmel's viral video will help kill the bill. More people are going to watch it and pass it along than are going to watch and pass along the POS's evil response.

(69 posts)I'm sure all these associations either "don't understand" or "Are just profiting like mad with the current 'broken' system, so OF COURSE they don't want to change it."
I hope Kimmel continues to do his best. I hope he spends the next week and a half putting these people to the wall.

(12,652 posts)And that's the only plan most people would be able to afford.
Something like those Groupon specials or those Special Event Coupon books you pay $99 every year to get 20% - 50% off things like Zoo visits, Harbor Tours, fancy restaurants, and Day Spas.
This time, a State Block Grant could allow you to buy a $100 individual or $200 family health care yearly coupon book, with special pricing and discounts for dental, pharmacy, glasses, and lab work...
...and if you've got a pre-existing condition - like being elderly, thinking about being pregnant, or having acne or soft tissue damage in a car accident years ago, you're going to have to come up with $2K a year to pay for the special individual coupon book that will give you up to 60% off the contracted specialty doctors and treatments at certain locations...
You'll still have to pay to see a doctor or use the ER, but with a 50% off coupon, it will only cost you $50 for a quick check-up at the local family clinic instead of the $100 a walk in would have to pay without the coupon...
And if you have a condition you want treated that isn't in the coupon book - like wanting regular hormonal treatments for mensuration or birth control, or having an addiction or developing a mental health problem - or if you have coupons left over at the end of the year, tough luck. Next year, new book - and probably at new prices.
Oh, and since your employer no longer has to provide you with health benefits - or even offset the cost of health care, you'll have to come up with your own money to pay for your health care coupon book. Maybe you'll be lucky enough the state will provide you with the coupons if you make under a certain amount, but since they got the money in a block grant, they don't really have to account how they spend that money, right? So they only spend 10% of the money printing out the coupon books and getting doctors and clinics to sign on for them. The rest can always go to "State Fiscal/Lobbyist Health Care"...
Think this won't happen in Red states like South Dakota, Texas, or Arkansas?
