AT&T CEO: Failure to pass tax reform would be 'bad indictment' for GOP

Source: The Hill

AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson said Wednesday that if Republicans cant enact tax reform while controlling both chambers of Congress and the White House it would be a "bad indictment" of their effectiveness.

I absolutely believe, and I think youre beginning to understand, that the people in the Senate and Congress believe that if they dont get tax reform done, it may be political survival for them, Stephenson said at an event hosted by the Business Roundtable.

Stephenson added that if youre a Republican, you better have it done before the primary season begins.

Stephenson was one of several business leaders who pressed for tax reform at the event Wednesday. Several of the CEOs said that taxes should be a bipartisan issue and that both sides of the aisle see a need to overhaul the code.

career - AT&T values - for 30 years, I might add - are NOT the values of this AT&T..SBC bought the name and brought their lack of values to the company....

I bite the hand that feeds my healthcare - you have to know that this AT&T will probably after all these years - bite my ass and change the program....

Healthcare is crucial for all of us....not some give away to mega corps..by way of the ACA and tax reform..they go hand in hand...thus, the need to pass their crap no healthcare..Koch bros..purse shut until they do??? - I say GSDB..nuff!!!

What more does this fat cat CEO want?

AT&T Paid No Federal Taxes in 2011; Achieved a $420 Million Taxpayer-Subsidized Refund

In an example of corporate welfare at its finest, AT&T effectively paid no federal taxes in 2011. In fact, thanks to lucrative incentives and corporate subsidies, the telecommunications company walked away with a giant taxpayer-subsidized $420 million refund.

CEO Randall Stephenson was paid a higher salary — $18.7 million — than AT&T paid in taxes last year, and thanks to the Bush era tax cuts, Stephenson kept $1,137,456 more of that money for himself in 2011, according to a new report from the Institute for Policy Studies.
