Graham: Kimmel bought liberal talking point 'hook, line and sinker'

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Wednesday shot back at late-night host Jimmy Kimmel for his "unfair" criticism of Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) and his involvement in the new GOP health care bill, saying Kimmel likely read a "liberal talking point" before hastily attacking the lawmaker.
"I bet you he never called Sen. Cassidy and said 'would you please set this straight?' I bet he looked at some liberal talking point, bought it hook, line and sinker, and went after Bill Cassidy without talking to him, and I think that's unfair, Graham said on "FOX & Friends."
Graham said that their health care bill will cover preexisting conditions, while adding that he sympathized with Kimmel, whose child had been diagnosed with a heart condition shortly after birth.
"I understand the emotional nature of having a sick child, and we're all grateful your child is doing well. Bill Cassidy is a doctor who worked in a nonprofit hospital serving the underprivileged. Factually, our bill requires preexisting illnesses to be covered in the block grant," Graham said in part, adding that the bill would allow "50 states to come up with solutions to help sick people, not just some bureaucrat in Washington."

(16,104 posts)All they want is to tell their base they "repealed Obamacare."
Their base is most definitely 'fact free!'

(4,483 posts)in this morass of crap-talk is something that's bugged me for a while. Graham says Cassidy "worked in a nonprofit hospital"--as if Cassidy were working for free. "Nonprofit" means that the hospital doesn't pay taxes, not that it doesn't make money. And working for a nonprofit anything doesn't mean you don't get paid.
There's no moral high ground in working for a nonprofit hospital. Working for free in an inner-city clinic, or for Doctors Without Borders, well, there's your moral high ground.

Conservatives are furiously attacking comedian Jimmy Kimmel after he exposed how the latest Republican bill to repeal Obamacare will hurt millions of Americans.
Comedian Jimmy Kimmel has become public enemy number one with conservatives just hours after his monologue exposed the cruelty of the latest Republican health care bill.
Kimmel called out Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), co-sponsor of the Cassidy-Graham bill to repeal Obamacare, after he appeared on Kimmels show in May and made a series of promises about what his bill would contain.
Kimmel explained to his audience Tuesday night that Cassidys earlier promises were a sham:
When he was on this publicity tour, he listed his demands for a health care bill very clearly. These were his words. He said he wants coverage for all, no discrimination based on preexisting conditions, lower premiums for middle-class families, and no lifetime caps. And guess what? The new bill? Does none of those things.
Kimmel was blunt about Cassidys deception, noting, This guy, Bill Cassidy, just lied right to my face.
Cassidy issued an evasive and dishonest response to Kimmel the next morning, refusing to directly address his criticisms of the bill.
But because Republicans want a bill any bill to show progress in their attempt to dismantle President Barack Obamas health care reforms, Kimmel is now coming under fire for exposing the legislation Republicans had hoped to pass without much scrutiny...................................

And as for you buddy being a doctor working in a non profit--------------FUCK YOU and him and everyone else sponsoring this piece of legislation sh*t and trying to have it both ways.
Your math ass**** doesn't work, which means that in 2026 no one with a disabilities or over the age of 65 will have any insurance, but you will, ass*****, because your "federalist" of BS, means that you will through legislative fiat cut funds to the states after you give tax breaks to the same fucking insurance companies and corporations that don't pay taxes................and then the states will be forced to make a critical decision, that your fucking doctor friend and the Dean Hellers
and that worthless POS Johnson, should know.................the state governor will not have the funds to support the medical needs of the state-----------------and they will essence create death panels

(7,812 posts)give them credibility by default and we have to spend days comparing their claims to others' claims.
Let's instead start with a recitation of all the medicare, ACA, social security, budget, climate change LIES and then start the discussion of their current claim with..."Well, I don't know why we should believe them this time after the 89th lie this month...perhaps we should challenge them to provide some proof?"
They should start each claim having to climb a mountain of doubt. But panels routinely debate different points of view as though they have equal weight...and that's just not right.
Similarly, Trump has lied more than 1,000 documented times since inauguration...why in the world do we give anything he says the benefit of the doubt and the benefit of analysis?

(2,785 posts)Every medical organization under the sun says your bill is trash, but Cassidy knows better because he worked as a doctor at non- profit hospital please! As greedy is Cassidy has shown I doubt it was his first choice to work at a non-profit hospital. He probably couldn't find work anywhere else at the time.

(64,995 posts). . .if the purpose of the block grants is to let the states make their own decisions (a pathetic mantra of the Rs), then how would you enforce that they "must" cover pre-existing conditions?
Once you send the money to them, they do what they think best. That's what YOU said. Just now!
So, there is no enforcement mechanism to protect those with PECs. You are a liar.

Without vigorous Congressional debate, why are you willing to ramrod through legislation? The American people DON'T WANT TO take your word for it, you snake and sell-out.
Even your behavior change in the past few weeks is obvious to all of us. You're a lot more surly than you were in July.
Why?
