BREAKING: North Korean leader responds to Trump: 'I will surely and definitely tame the mentally deranged U.S. dotard with fire' change head to that North Korean leader responds to Trump: 'I will surely and definitely tame the mentally deranged U.S. dotard with fire.' This story will be updated.

NEW YORK President Trump on Thursday announced new financial sanctions targeting North Korea as his administration seeks to build international support for more aggressively confronting the rogue nation, whose escalating nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities have reached what U.S. officials consider a crisis point.

The new penalties seek to leverage the dominance of the U.S. financial system by forcing nations, foreign companies and individuals to choose whether to do business with the United States or the comparatively tiny economy of North Korea. U.S. officials acknowledged that like other sanctions, these may not deter North Korean leader Kim Jong Uns drive to threaten the United States with a nuclear weapon, but is aimed at slowing him down.

'Retard' comes from the Latin 'tard' meaning 'slow' - as in 'tardy' etc. The '-ard' ending of 'dotard' is a general one in English, often meaning 'one who does something too much' - 'sluggard', 'coward', 'drunkard', or generally pejorative - 'bastard'.

Kim has, so far, kept the threats non-personal. I imagine he got tired of the stupid "Rocket Man" references.

Trump will take this badly.

Iodine market prices rise further
By MARTIM FACADA
Published: Friday, 08 September 2017
Global Iodine market prices have moved up following lower producer inventories and a pick up of demand.

Lower inventories of iodine reported by Chilean producers at the end of the summer added to improved demand to lift market prices in recent weeks.

Producers remain bullish, seeing the spot market remain between $22.50-23.50/kg while witnessing a catching up of...

North Korea: Donald Trump vows to test 'madman' Kim Jong-un 'like never before'

Will Worley 5 hours ago

Donald Trump has called Kim Jong-un a "madman who doesn't mind starving or killing his people", declaring the North Korean leader will be "tested like never before".

The declaration came in a tweet and followed a North Korean threat to detonate a nuclear weapon over the Pacific Ocean.

Mr Trump's fiery speech at the United Nations earlier this week has served to ramp up the tensions between the two countries.
