Don't exploit my husband's death for your own political gain.

That was the message Marie Tillman, the widow of former Cardinals safety and Army veteran Pat Tillman, had for Donald Trump and others who have politicized her late husband's death in the wake of dozens of players protesting during the national anthem this weekend.

"Pat's service, along with that of every man and woman's service, should never be politicized in a way that divides us," Marie Tillman said in a statement provided to CNN. "We are too great of a country for that."

On Monday morning, Trump retweeted a user's post who shared a picture of Tillman in his combat uniform with the message, "NFLplayer PatTillman joined U.S. Army in 2002. He was killed in action 2004. He fought 4our country/freedom. #StandForOurAnthem #BoycottNFL"......................

Whether it be his parents, his brother, or his widow, they've never been shy about calling out anyone trying to distort who he was for political gain.

They did it under Bush and they're doing it under Trump. Funny how we didn't hear much from them in between . . .

He agreed with the occupation of Afghanistan. But referred to Iraq as Illegal and inhumane. Pissed people off.
