Poll: Majority disagrees with Trump on firing athletes who kneel during anthem

Source: The Hill

BY JOSH DELK - 09/26/17 06:10 PM EDT

A majority of Americans believe that NFL players should not be fired for kneeling for the national anthem at football games, disagreeing with President Trump on the issue this week, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released Tuesday.

The survey found that while 57 percent of Americans do not think the National Football League should fire players who protest by kneeling during the anthem, 58 percent said that professional athletes in general "should be required to stand during the national anthem at sporting events."

The findings come after Trump brought national attention to the protests at a political rally last week, condemning the non-violent protest first used by former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

"Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. He is fired,' " Trump said.

At WH dinner, Trump said the NFL issue has “really taken off,” per source. “He was happy—he feels like he’s clearly winning that exchange."

He never puts his hand over his heart but smirks and looks like he's laughing at the national anthem. Also, fire him for being an actual traitor and colluding with a hostile foreign power to subvert our election for his own benefit. Such a disgusting ugly inside and out orange assface.

What is really great is now, every game, white Americans who think they can avoid dealing with the inequalities of race that will never be solved until we get rid of this country's current paradigm, will NOT be able to ignore the pain they deserve to experience upon their every waking moment. This is worth far more to the progressive movement than virtually anything we could do. Every game should be punctuated with such a display.
