Blumenthal: 99 percent sure of Russia indictments

Source: Politico

Criminal charges against two former top advisers to President Donald Trump are virtually certain, Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal said Tuesday.

Michael Flynn and Paul Manafort are almost sure to be indicted as a result of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election, the Connecticut senator told POLITICO.

“I'm about 99 percent sure there will be some criminal charges from this investigation,” said Blumenthal, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Blumenthal has also served as a U.S. attorney and spent 20 years as his state's attorney general.

Blumenthal said he is less certain Trump himself would end up facing charges, including for possible obstruction of justice for his firing of FBI Director James Comey.

Well, that would be a start. But DT needs to be named as an unindicted co-conspirator in an obstruction of justice case -- and probably for much more.

or named as an unindicted co-conspirator, like Nixon, may depend on whether Manafort and Flynn have anything on him and decide to give it up to Mueller in the hope that their time as a guest of the federal government might be reduced.

I don't think either of them is worried about prison when a pardon is just a pen stroke away.

Realistically, if I were either of them, I'd be much worried about suddenly coming down with a radiation induced cancer, because even if Trump were to pardon them, they'd both potentially be huge liabilities for Putin.

Not registering as a foreign agent, mostly got probation and a small fine as their punishment.

Are Flynn and Manafort going to flip on Trump to avoid probation? I think not.

11. Well, there's been no hint of any other serious crimes committed by anyone. And Mueller's office

has leaked a lot of shit in the past few weeks. If Manafort or Flynn robbed a bank, or murdered someone, I'm sure that would have leaked, or there would have been an arrest. Prosecutors don't sit on serious charges like that to build other cases.

Both of those men, Manafort and Flynn, made a lot of money doing the lobbying that they did. They would have no incentive to commit crimes that put them at more risk. And both of them took high profile jobs in the Trump campaign. If I had a lot of baggage, or knew i was at risk, you wouldn't catch me anywhere near a high profile, on tv every 5 minutes Presidential campaign.

12. No "hint"? Yeah, right. Do you think Mueller sent the FBI in with guns drawn to raid

Manafort's apartment in the middle of the night because there was "no hint" he'd been involved with money-laundering or anything else?

Men like Trump and Manafort, who have gotten away with criminal activity all their lives, have big enough egos to think that they will never be taken down. They wouldn't be afraid of exposure because of being involved in a high-profile Presidency or campaign. And DT always thought he'd be protected by Sessions.
