Poll: Majority wish Obama were president, as Trump labeled 'mentally unstable'

Source: Yahoo News

A majority of Americans wish former President Barack Obama was still in the White House and in charge of the nation according to a new poll.

A new survey from Public Policy Polling found that 52 percent of respondents wish Obama were in the midst of his third term. By comparison, only 41 percent prefer having President Donald Trump over Obama.

Unfortunately for the current president, the poll included many other negative ratings. The survey found 54 percent of people claim Trump is dishonest, 47 percent say he's mentally unstable and 48 percent call for his impeachment.

Former President Obama has made only a handful of forays into the political conversation, but has joined his fellow ex-presidents to call for relief after Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria battered parts of the United States.

PPP did a similar poll early this year:

But the numbers for Trump are slightly worse now, especially the number of people who want him impeached, which has gone from 40% to 48%.

while the real president by popular vote gets prepared to take office with her new cabinet. Of course we would need to nullify and void the entire election since Congress was elected by people who vote down ballot.

I think the rest are those who completely disassociate themselves with anything "political" (especially at the national level) and/or are truly clueless (and this might include many who are moderately or very wealthy too because very little that goes on "inside the beltway" affects them). I.e., you have about 11 million millionaires in the U.S. at the moment who represent about 3% of the total U.S. population. There are also about 565 billionaires in the U.S., the highest earning of those who tend to be more political (including the couple who are running U.S. departments at the moment ).

those who dissociate themselves among my acquaintance do so because it's a way to relieve the stress that the RW deliberately inflicts on the peasantry in order to get them to drop out of the process.

These non-voters complain that listening to news shows on network and cable just leaves them uninformed and confused. They say that on the cable news shows, it's just a bunch of people sitting around arguing with each other and you can't tell who is right. Of course, leaving the casual viewer confused and turned off is the intent, which is why the arguing and shallow content (except on certain MSNBC shows) is there--by design.

I do make a few points to them:
1. Their duty as citizens is to be the informed electorate. The founders knew that for this country to work, the (voting) population would have to be educated.
2. It takes a lot less time to keep up with the issues and vote than to spend your life living under the burden of RW policies. One example is spending decades paying off huge student loans vs. electing politicians who wouldn't have gone along with raygun to dismantle low-cost public college (and no, I'm not getting into the Bernie-vs.-Hillary proposals to improve the current state of affairs, just pointing out how we got there).
3. Politics impacts EVERY aspect of their lives, from whether the country goes to war to how much they pay in taxes. Things that happen to them on the macro level are not "acts of god" or "just the way things are" but the result of deliberate policy decisions, often made a long time ago. One of my favorite examples is the raising of the Social Security retirement age--i.e. cut to SS--which just recently went into effect but which was made under that evil old bastard raygun 25 YEARS ago, just so that no one would blame the pukes at the time.

However, talking politics at all with these folks is a dicey proposition--they so much want to NEVER deal with it that I can only say so much without making them shut down entirely.

What I really want to do is yell at those of them who aren't my friends that PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE THE REASON THIS COUNTRY HAS GONE DOWN THE RW RABBIT HOLE AND NOW HAVE SHIT FOR BRAINS AS PRESIDENT AND WE ARE ALL GOING TO SUFFER FOR DECADES FROM WHAT THE PUKES ARE DOING TO THIS COUNTRY.

Sometimes a few of those kind of folks wake up, which is what helped us retake the House in 2006 after 12 years of GOP control. They managed to stay awake long enough in 2008 to not have a three-peat happen in the WH like 1988.... But in 2010, the slumber and disengagement ensued and helped to guarantee that we would be screwed for a long time to come.

That would be so good, and this past year just a bad dream. A nightmare.

Obama cannot serve a 3rd term, so I don't really see the point of a poll using that as a choice.
