Senate Intelligence Committee leaders: Russia did interfere in 2016 elections

The leaders of the Senate Intelligence Committee on Wednesday largely endorsed the findings of the intelligence community that Russia sought to sway the 2016 U.S. elections through a hacking and influence campaign, and they called for a more aggressive, whole-of-government approach to ensure future elections arent similarly compromised.
There is consensus among members and staff that we trust the conclusions of the ICA, Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), the committees chairman, said at Wednesday news conference, referring to the intelligence communitys assessment that Russia was behind hackings of the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton campaign director John Podestas email account, and had attempted to exploit public opinion by sowing false information, much of it through fake social media accounts. But we dont close our consideration of it, he added.
Burr also stressed that the issue of collusion is still open, and would not be resolved until the committees work was done. He said that a deadline for the committee was the looming start of the 2018 primary season. Weve got to make our facts, as it related to Russias involvement in our election before the primaries getting started in 2018, Burr said.
You cant walk away from this and believe that Russias not currently active, he added.

Namely: declare the result null and void, and install the President and Vice-President we really DID elect!
Yeah, yeah, I know--Godot will show up first.
we can do it

(6,810 posts)Perhaps, but there's also no provision in the USC on allowing to stand the results of a fraudulent election either. The intent in the wording of the USC, however, was made very clear that the Founders wanted absolutely no foreign influence in our government. That is indisputable. It absolutely would be legal and constitutional to remove Trump and every last one of his cohorts as agents and beneficiaries of a hostile foreign power. I leave their fate to your imagination, dear reader, but every last vestige of this administration and its co-conspirators must be removed if the republic is to continue.
There may be no Do-Over provision in the USC, but the USC and the Founders were explicitly clear on their opinion of foreign influence.

(28,810 posts)who blocked Obama at every turn for 8 years. all hope for justice is really ebbing. if the fucking republicans don't get their tax cuts they'll let this insanity go on and on and on. they'll sit by while trump nukes NK. he's already dropped US influence in the world by entire nations. now it gets clearer and clearer to me that the election was stolen and those goddamn tax cuts will be the reward for republicans or they'll take out the whole world working on them.

(4,341 posts)they know the American people don't fully realize that Trump is a decoy allowing them to do their dirty work behind the scenes, and until people realize that is happening, they will continue to use their "payaso".
The day the decoy stops being useful, that is the day they will throw him under the bus, just like they do to everyone else they use.
The word has to be spread that the GOP is carrying their dirty deeds behind curtains, I have been saying that for a long time, and yesterday i read an interview with Noam Chumsky and he exaplains it better than I do, but people must come to terms that the destruction of the country is going on behind the curtains while trump amuses everyone with constant stupidity, he and his family for that matter.

(27,827 posts)It was bad enough when they didn't do anything in 2000 about the stolen election, and just let Bush trample over everyone, start two wars, create a recession, and appoint jackholes to the Supreme Court.
This is far, far worse and the country will be paying for years (if we even continue to exist as the country we know) if they don't do something about what happened in 2016.

(6,377 posts)The big question that everyone wants to know is, did the Trump administration work with them to do that (likely), and can Mueller prove it.

(562 posts)This has been known for 9 months with overwhelming evidence.
This is a GOP publicity stunt to deter claims of deliberate foot-dragging and borderline obstruction. They lost all credibility 20 years ago.
All efforts should be to win the house back like the dems life depends on it.
