Las Vegas gunman bought most of his guns in the last year
Source: Los Angeles Times
The girlfriend of the gunman behind the massacre in Las Vegas was met by federal agents when she arrived in the U.S. on a late-night flight, and investigators hoped Wednesday that she will shed light on an attack whose motivation is still a mystery to law enforcement authorities.
As President Trump arrived in Las Vegas, officials have not found any clues that would indicate the shooters ideology or motivation or really what compelled him to get there, FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe told CNBC in a televised interview.
Regarding the motive of gunman Stephen Paddock, 64, of Mesquite, Nev., anything is possible, at this point we just dont know, McCabe said. This is an individual who was not on our radar, or anyones radar, prior to this event.
Meanwhile, a federal source told the Los Angeles Times on Wednesday that although Paddock first began buying guns two decades ago, the majority of the 47 he owned had been purchased since October 2016.

And, too many and you need to be checked on for all of the above.
Sorry, gun-humpers, but you are polluting society as surly as if you were burning crappy oil or trash.

(16,799 posts)It limited the number of hand guns purchased to one per month. In 2012 The GOP-controlled Senate voted 21 to 19 to do away with the purchase limit, just days after the House passed its version of the bill. Gov. Robert F. McDonnell (R), who voted for the cap as a delegate but vowed to lift it as a gubernatorial candidate, signed the legislation into law.
I doubt that the federal government would even try to pass a law like that, and it would end up in the courts for years!

Kind of a stretch, but it's something that coincides with that date. Assuming further still there's a link to the date at all.

(6,094 posts)Every time I make a change in my investment mix, I get a definite warning about the consequences of frequent changes. I know people who were making changes almost on a daily basis and had more strong warnings where they had to answer questions etc to continue. Go ahead and make several changes a month and see what happens. I personally thing it's a good idea to prevent people chasing the market.

(26,113 posts)1 - No device that turns guns into automatic weapons are legal. All devices on the market are illegal as of x date.
2 - Full background checks on all gun purchases, even gun shows.
3 - No more than 1 gun purchase a year - period! This alone would save hundreds of lives each year.
4 - No assault style weapons are legal for civilians to own. Anyone caught selling these will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
5 - No armour piercing bullets allowed to be sold, same punishment for all 5..

You can only shoot one gun at a time and a magazine change takes about the same time as picking up another gun with a little practice.

(26,113 posts)It would stop that creating an instant arsenal. This would have to be planned over many years, and I doubt that would happen as much as these have been occurring absent that.

(21,527 posts)defense. Didn't work. Like Paddock, Holmes planned everything in minute details. Holmes killed 12 people and maimed/injured 70+ others in his mass shooting. So glad Holmse didn't know about these devices that enables a semi automatic weapon to work like an fully automatic weapon or else all 200 something folks in that movie theater would have been killed.

(109,266 posts)I can't imagine he made that much money gambling. And I can definitely bet that Go Fund Me wouldn't allow a collection to be taken up for that kind of fire power. And I don't think most gun stores that sell that kind of weaponry are the type that you would buy with a Visa or Mastercard. So where did he get that money from? Follow the money.
metalbot
(1,058 posts)I'm not sure I follow. Most of his rifles would have cost $1000 or less at a gun store. I've never seen a gun store that didn't take MC/Visa.
I don't see why people find it astonishing that he'd have money. During OWS, the discussion was all about "the 1%". Well, yes, the 1% exists, and there are 3 million of them. "The 10%" also has a lot of cash, and there are 30 million of them.
