Jerry Jones: Cowboys will bench any player who 'disrespects' flag
Source: ESPN
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said emphatically his players will stand for the national anthem and not disrespect the flag, and if they do, then the player or players will not play.
"If there's anything that is disrespectful to the flag, then we will not play," Jones said after the Cowboys' 35-31 loss to the Green Bay Packers. "Understand? We will not ... if we are disrespecting the flag, then we will not play. Period."
Vice President Mike Pence says he left Sunday's 49ers-Colts game in Indianapolis over protesting that took place during the national anthem.
The topic was raised after Vice President Mike Pence left Sunday's game between the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers after more than 20 Niners knelt during the national anthem with their hands over their hearts, as was the case the previous week.
Pence tweeted a statement in which he said he would not dignify any event that disrespects soldiers, the flag or the anthem.

(2,150 posts)that all Pro football players disrespected the flag before 2009? That's right - no players stood up for the flag before that date.
Now why is that, Jerry? It's because, you dolt, the teams stayed in the locker rooms until after the anthem was played. Wow! Now, Jerry, let me tell you why they did that - it is because the government gave $6 mil to the NFL to make team teams be on the sidelines for the anthem.
So let me put it to you this way, you idiot. The organization which you belong to and you make a profit off of, bought 'patriotism' for $6 million.. Don't you feel proud of yourself for taking that money? I'm sure you do.

This whole thing is just so much bull puckey. For every idiot in the stands who starts cheering during the anthem ... yeah.
I truly hope half of Jerry's team takes a knee next week. Then won't Jerry look like the a$$ and bully he is.

But, FUCK JERRY JONES. He is an idiot who believes the Cowboys are his and his family's tinker toy.
Football issues aside, I watched my last Cowboy game today. The hypocrisy of saying kneeling is about disrespecting the flag is idiotic and evil. Black people are being murdered by police. And Jones will not let "his" team disrespect the flag? I am almost speechless. What I will say is:
FUCK JERRY JONES
FUCK DALLAS COWBOYS
For that matter, FUCK FOOTBALL. It is a game that inflicts brain damage on America's Youth. I have struggled with this for years. Thanks Jerry! You god-awful moron. You have severed my remaining link to the evil game of football. So, Jerry, Again, FUCK YOU and YOUR FAMILY.

(26,318 posts)the NFL over this might be as a long term plan to take down the NFL players union as its a pretty powerful union in the country and if its taken down it potentially weakens the power of unions all together especially if he does it via the courts which are stacked with alot of right wing nutjobs currently.

(65,159 posts)MLBPA is a juggernaut, NBAPA has gotten the owners and league to treat the game as a true partnership, and the NHLPA is just a bit behind them.
The NFLPA is already the weakest of those organizations, so they're not the object lesson you think they would be.

(26,318 posts)use the same case to break the other more powerful unions it would have served its purpose for them then.

Do you stand in your home when the anthem is played before a game?
Maybe we should all have to stand at home when CBS, NBC and Fox broadcast the anthem.

(3,613 posts)Update, Sunday 3:27 p.m.: Once again, every player on the Dallas Cowboys stood for the national anthem before the Cowboys-Packers game. The Cowboys haven't had a player kneel or sit in protest. Defensive linemen David Irving and Damontre Moore raised their fist at the anthem's conclusion. Moore did so last week as well; Irving's active for the first time this season after serving a four-game PED suspension.
