There is a transcript of Trump's controversial call to Sgt. Johnson's widow, Lara Trump reveals
Source: ThinkProgress
Friday morning on Fox and Friends, Lara Trump, Trumps daughter-in-law, revealed there is a way to settle this definitively. There is, according to Lara Trump, a transcript of the conversation. Lara Trump, who does not work in the White House (but does work for Trumps campaign) has read them.

Oddly, Lara Trumps description of the call appears consistent with Congresswoman Wilsons account. Lara Trump, paraphrasing the conversation, says her father-in-law told Johnson your husband went in to battle, you know, knowing that he could be injured, knowing that he could be killed.
This tracks with what Trump Chief of Staff John Kelly, who listened to the call from the White House, said yesterday. Kelly said Trump told Johnson her husband knew what he was getting himself into because he enlisted. Again, this appears to confirm Wilsons account.
-snip-
If the transcript, as Lara Trump suggests, somehow vindicates Trump, why hasnt the White House released it?

(40,218 posts)but this has me confused. How does what Lara Trump have to say help Trump? Her paraphrasing of the conversation sounds like a horrible thing to say to a person in Mrs. Johnson's situation.
Secondly, what is a private citizen like Lara Trump doing having access to White House transcripts?

The president's daughter-in-law has read it, for some reason, while the general public has not.

(4,178 posts)clearly said there was no recording.
If it was not recorded, how could there be a transcript?

(2,769 posts)to double-or-triple-down on his claim that Mrs. Johnson "lied" about what he said.
If the "transcript" shows that he didn't say EGGGG.ZZAAACT.LEE what she said he said, he will think it's a win for him. The Dope.
I just want this miserable story to go away permanently.

Of course not.

(4,407 posts)No one who actually works for the White House (Kelly, Huckabee, et al.) would agree to such an easily disprovable lie that such a transcript exists. The sons are bad liars, so he has the daughter-in-law get on TV and tell the lie.
