Crooked Media got their hands on an internal Trump administration memo that outlines the goals of the worst president in history, from the "travel ban to the budget process." But the document also revealed plans to drastically slash federal funding for family planning and pregnancy prevention programs. Instead of providing actual birth control and accurate information, low-income women will now be told to either abstain or use the rhythm method.
And they hope to halve federal funding for Title X, the grant program that provides family planning and prevention services to the poor, and divert the money into programs to promote fertility awareness methods of birth controlpopular among socially conservative contraception foeswhich fail annually for a quarter of couples.
Members of the White Houses Domestic Policy Council (DPC) transmitted these and other priorities and concerns, as part of their longer wish list, to the Office of Management and Budget, seeking their inclusion in the budget the president will submit to Congress next year, according to a source who provided the memo to Crooked Media.
Crooked Media goes on to note the people behind these recommendations have been pushing this half-baked agenda for quite some time:
Each of the documents repeated references to fertility awareness, including as a preferred remedy for teenage pregnancy, can be found in subsections that identify DPC staffers Katy Talento and Alexandra Campau as points of contact for OMB officials. Talento, a former adviser to Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC), attracted the attention of the health news service STAT earlier this year, after Trump selected her to help shape the administrations health policy, for expressing strong rhetoric against birth control and abortion...............................................

I really do not think we, as a nation, can take much more of this.

(6,241 posts)cracking up at the baby pope. To me, that picture symbolizes everything I loved about Obama. He saw everything through the eyes of a father. My kids make me laugh. And his smile at the baby Pope was infectious.

(6,241 posts)a tender or decent bone in his body at all. He can't seem to find anything humorous, unless it's mean-spirited and directed at someone less powerful than he is. I'm racking my brain right now, and I can't find one point in the last year of a time that Trump was in any way likable. Laughing at kids' antics. Good hearted pranks on his staff (ie, Obama stepping on the scale where Marvin Nicholson was weighing himself).
I try to like Trump. He's going to be president for the next 4 years (hopefully less). But with every breath he takes, he seems to be less and less human.

Yes I love that photo of Obama stepping on the scale.
Obama is a very unique and special person. A political genius, but always perfectly appropriate, and full of good human qualities, kind, loving, fair.

(21,627 posts)Since the rhythm method is the only one Catholic conservatives will abide, the region's population grew massively - doubling every 30 years - until their governments finally got serious about high birth rates in the '80s and the rate of growth slowed to the current 1% or so (it's 0.6% in the U.S. currently).
Even so, Latin America's population, which was the same as the U.S.'s in 1940 (130 million), is twice as much at 650 million - but with half the U.S. economy and all the problems those levels entail.
That's conservative population policy in action (or worse).
