Graham: 'If we fail on taxes, that's the end' of GOP majority

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Friday warned that if Republicans fail to deliver on their promise to reform the tax code, they'lll likely lose their majority in the House.
In an interview with Fox News Radio's Brian Kilmeade, Graham cast a successful vote on tax reform as vital to Republicans' survival in Congress following the failure of efforts to repeal and replace ObamaCare.
"Well, I think all of us realize that if we fail on taxes, that's the end of the Republican Party's governing majority in 2018," he said. "We'll lose the House, probably lose ground in the Senate. And President Trump has got a profile different from the party there's kinda two or three different Republican Parties now, I guess. But we're all in it together."
Graham also said that, if Democrats take back the House in 2018, they would soon move to impeach the president.

(19,103 posts)So they will announce that they are heroes for the average guy and everyone in Republican communities will believe.
Gradually their supporters will begin to understand they've been screwed but will still lay the blame on Democrats.
They have weak, conservative minds in a vice grip and nothing can free them from it.
not Vice.

(53,162 posts)This is reality: The tax plan they are pushing is not describable by words that currently exist in the English language. Forget that any family with a special-needs child is going to see their taxes go through the roof because medical expenses will no longer be deductible. Or the Quiverfull (the Duggar family is this) movement, one of the GOP's strongest voting blocs, will see its taxes skyrocket thanks to the loss of personal exemptions. Truckers can kiss a lot of their paychecks goodbye because unreimbursed employee expenses will be gone with the wind...however, Donald Trump's own tax bill will plummet and his heirs' estate taxes will vanish. No, the real atrocity is the public spending that actually helps the average American will end because, gosh, negative $175 million is just too darn much money for General Electric to pay in taxes.

Sound more like a set up. ie. when they do, he can then come out with a big grin and proclaim that, despite his previous skepticism, Republicans are now all working together as they should.....to help America families with this shiny new tax bill...trust him.
