Roy Moore Super PAC Financier Finally Revealed

Newly released documents show Illinois businessman Richard Uihlein is the moneyman behind a group seeking to send Moore to the Senate

The chief financier of a leading pro-Roy Moore super PAC is a deep-pocketed Republican businessman who dropped eight figures on 2016 races alone and is looking to continue propping up the party’s most conservative candidates.

Illinois businessman Richard Uihlein provided $100,000 to the group, Proven Conservatives PAC, since September, according to a new filing (1) with the Federal Election Commission, making him by far the group’s top donor. That money, which hadn’t been previously disclosed, has financed a host of ads boosting Moore’s candidacy in the face of widespread sexual assault and harassment allegations. The group has also run ads attacking Moore’s primary opponent, Sen. Luther Strange (R-AL), and his Democratic general election rival Doug Jones.

Proven Conservative PAC officially formed in late August, as the Alabama Senate primary contest heated up. The only major financial support it had previously reported came from a company owned by the family of Alabama timber executive Guice Slawson. ... In addition to Uihlein, Proven Conservative received money in September from Peter Nicholas, a Florida-based businessman whose chain of Taco Bell franchises has also donated to the campaign of Omar Navarro, a quixotic Republican challenger to California Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters.

Uihlein is a far bigger name in GOP politics. The shipping and office supply mogul and his wife donated a combined $26.4 million to federal campaigns, party organs, super PACs, and interest groups during the 2016 election cycle, according to FEC data.

2. This is the guy behind ULINE

That ubiquitous office supplies and supply chain logistics company: https://g.co/kgs/dwHdYD

If your company orders equipment/supplies from them, maybe see if there are better alternatives.

19. Thanks for that info.

Their catalogs have been hitting the recycle bin immediately for a long time. Now, I'm going to send them a nastygram with a Roy Moore reference to try and get off their list. Don't even want to see them any longer.

No wealthy family should be able to influence an election with this sort of magnitude, and especially not across state lines.

26. I won't be buying the product now, but its as good as anybody else's. Do you drink bottled water ...

from Nestles?

https://www.nestle-waters.com/brands

Now Nestles is a truly evil company.

27. I try to never buy Nestle products

And I never drink bottled water unless it is the only option in a particular setting. Nestle is a huge problem here in Ontario, trying to purchase small, struggling communities' water aquifers in order to bottle and sell it, offering pennies on the dollar.

Though the whole situation may be moot with this deal happening:

http://www.cp24.com/news/enbridge-reaches-deal-with-michigan-on-underwater-great-lakes-pipeline-1.3695935

The next world war will be fought over water, I'm fairly certain. But I digress. This is all off-topic to the OP.

29. Nono, it was me getting off topic.

Talking about the oil pipeline through the great lakes and the sale of Ontario water, etc... You are correct to call out Nestle, and I believe that they are significant contributors to GOP causes in the hopes that they'll deregulate water so that they can bottle and sell it back to us.

I don't really get to exercised about conservatives supporting conservatives, but Roy Moore is way out of bounds. And that was before the assault allegations!

only won due to low Dem turnout and heavy Ricketts/Koch money.

Rauner's days are numbered.

This really makes me wonder - what the hell is going on in this country?
Every one of these guys is bought & paid for.

11. Oh, yes. In 2014 Forbes said he was spending millions

millions to elect "far-right" Republicans. When FORBES calls someone "far right," you know they're off the far edge.

He's an extremist , aBanana Republican ideologue, like thousands in our new classes who count their wealth in the hundreds of millions and up. They are working to change our nation, to move it hard right, from the local level up.

Anyway, Illinois isn't far at all from Wisconsin, and he has plenty of business interests there and many other states also. Like his buddies the Kochs, Thiel, the Mercers, at least several hundred fellow wingnut billionaires alone.

13. Maybe he inhaled too many fumes while touring

the factories?

We're overrun by extremist billionaires. So many like to consider themselves libertarians (presumably imagining it puts an ideological gloss on their greedy snatching) that it's almost refreshing that this one openly self describes as "conservative." Unfortunately, for most of both groups, that seems to actually translate to some self-serving form of secular or theocratic fascism.

arrivals will boost our turnout in exurbs like Waukegan, Aurora, Cicero, and Elgin.

It's creepy how we're surrounded by red states. I know Dems have crossed MI and WI state lines to boost protests and Democratic voter turnouts there.

18. Understand how it would feel creepy these days.

When we followed our son to Georgia, the idea was that the nation was headed for another liberal era following the era of reaganism. Many were coming from other states as the poverty of reconstruction faded into the past, yada, yada. Didn't realize what kind of advances these miserable fractions of men armed with fortunes that would beggar kings were making.
