Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) leads her top progressive challenger by a double-digit margin, according to a new poll.
A new poll from the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) found that Feinstein leads her challenger, California Senate Pro Tem President Kevin de León (D), 45 percent to 21 percent among likely voters. Thirty-three percent are undecided.
Feinstein has a resounding lead in every region of the state and has a more than 2-to-1 lead in his home region of Los Angeles. Feinstein, a former mayor of San Francisco, also has a huge lead in the Bay area: 54 to 17 percent.
Feinstein has been a long-time staple in California politics, but she has come under fire from progressives who argue she hasnt held President Trump accountable. Many progressives and groups have rallied around de León since he entered the race. But de León and any other Democrat looking to jump into the race will have an uphill battle since Feinstein has served in the Senate since 1992.

(9,696 posts)wow, he's doing such a terrific job, I didn't even know he was in the running!
He's been California's Senate Pro Tem President, there are more California politicians with better name recognition.
If progressives want to unseat DiFi they're going to have to do better than this.

(17,368 posts)by me. At the same time, I'm okay with other progressive Democrats considering a run against her. If there are progressives who think they can do a better job, why shouldn't they throw their hat in the ring? That's only fair.

(71,542 posts)primary sitting Dems at this critical time...and those organizations that support this are now blacklisted by me and will get no money or volunteer time...as is Move On who is bringing a primary against Tim Ryan in Ohio.

(6,721 posts)Just like the old republican guard is refusing to let go and is in the process of destroying or stealing everything they can get their grubby hands on, the old democratic guard is refusing to let go even though polls tell us that younger voters want, and deserve, new blood....or at least old blood with a more progressive understanding of their concerns... It really is understandable why millennials and other younger citizens want an new party which offers them real opportunities to participate in platform development.......

(11,949 posts)Fuck that Shit.
And the Democratic guard is refusing to let go? Give me a fucking break.
And younger voters deserve new blood? Are you even reading the crap you are typing? Perhaps all these young progressives, whatever the fuck that term means, should consider actually voting rather than bitching about we old moderate democrats. When I was a young man we had a primary and the winner got the support of everyone in the party. And the losing side tried hard the next time.
But of course, I never got a medal for coming in 3rd place. (Ok, could not resist a get off my yard kid kind of comment here)

(13,828 posts)Take a look at the tax bill / corporate giveaway that repubs in the Senate are cramming down our throat at this very instant and tell me there's no difference between repubs and Democrats. Every Single Democrat in the Senate is united against that bill which is rehashed smoke and mirrors trickle down bullshit all over again. Put away your rose colored glasses and get a dose of reality.

What a waste of space when there are real demons out there to fight.
I have started asking what progressive means. Cause I am beginning to thing for some Progressives it is not related to the Democratic Party.
