Cornyn says Senate has the votes to pass GOP tax bill

Source: The Washington Post

By Damian Paletta and Erica Werner December 1 at 10:41 AM

A key Senate GOP leader said Friday that Republicans had secured enough votes to pass a massive tax package, expressing optimism after a night of high-stakes negotiations.

Coming out of a meeting of Senate leaders, Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.) said, “We have at least 50, and we’re still working.”

The comments from Cornyn, the second-ranking Republican in the Senate, came just hours after Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) said he planned to back the bill. He was one of the final holdouts, though the GOP needed a little more help to ensure they had the 50 votes they needed. Cornyn did not say who else had committed to support the package.

Johnson’s support followed a late night of negotiations, following a standoff on the Senate floor Thursday when Johnson and two other members aired concerns about the bill.

Perhaps the stupidest thing the former deficit-hawk Republicans have ever done

What voodoo method do they have now that does not violate reconciliation rules? Plus I think the vote can be only after 24 hours of debate if it ever gets to the floor...lol..now we all see why the rush today by even the old holdouts.

Shitler may not make it to next week.

in 2018, we will really drain the swamp.

McCain, with all the retirees in Arizona that will lose their medicare,
should send a message by once an for all getting rid of this guy.

both have to sit down and come up with a reconciliation bill
and then restart the process of trying to pass that bill in both
houses.

The backlash may prevent the reconciliation bill from going through
one of the houses. If either fail, then the process start all over again.

in Arizona and across the country, if they want Alpo dog food or Friskie cat food to be their main food supply

And to top it all off 13 million people will automatically be place in a death panel for insurance, not including the wipe out in deductions-------------what specious assholes.

48 % of the population do not like this scam------------------but 1% and upwards of 10% just got a fucking Christmas present-----------come net year there will be congressional republican fascist trickle down lay-offs

In fact I think every senior citizen and citizen in this country making less than $75,000 should send a can of dog food and cat food to every fucking republican, starting with the twit from Wisconsin

Pass through:

question out there, if god forbid, this horrible thing passes, do you think the repigs will ever have impeachment hearings this is what they wanted for this bastard to sign their fucking tax cut (after President Obama save us from collapse due to Bush) and screw Americans.

If Moore gets in the Senate that will it for them. Child molesters and screwing the American people all for their donors and the Koch brothers.

I also see if this thing goes through there will be a lot of people in distress, I hope we give the repigs all hell to pay if this goes through. We may even see more middle americans running for office.

I just see those SOB's grinning from ear to ear, Ryan and McConnell they are despicable. Again I hope they choke on it.

1) People will get thrown off their medical insurance. Last I heard 13 million will lose their medical insurance.
2) Medicare recipients will lose a lot of benefits. Medicare will stop paying for cancer treatment. Explain that to their constituents.
3) People with student loans will no longer be able to claim interested paid on the loan as a tax deduction.
So, current students will stop taking out student loans, and upper educational facilities will shut down.
4) Homeowners will no longer be allowed to claim the mortgage interest payment as a deduction.
I know that I can't afford my home without the deduction, so it will go up for sale immediately.
This will happen all around the country, but here in California, it will be worse.
There will be glut of homes on the market, and the prices will drop like a rock.

Welcome to the world of the Greedy One Percent (GOP)!

thank you for explaining. I hate what they are doing to us and our country because they can't govern for shit.

After Dems clean up everything they rip it to shreds. The repigs have this thing in the heads that the American people are lazy and stupid, ( but the majority of us aren't) The repigs have this thing that they are entitled and we are not. They wouldn't know how to survive if they had to struggle like us. I just have this weird image in my head when the people do not have anything to live for they go after the rich. Is this possible for the poor to go after the rich, or is it only in the movies.

But he won't like what he gets.
Hopefully Dem's get at least the majority in both houses,
but I hoping for a super majority in both.

I don't believe it will happen, but it is fun to dream about it.
