New York City Ballet leader Peter Martins reportedly under investigation after sexual harassment allegation

Peter Martins, who has led the New York City Ballet since the 1980s, has been accused of sexual harassment, the New York Times reported Monday.

Martins, 71, reportedly discussed relationships he had with female dancers; romance between supervisors and subordinates has been prohibited at the City Ballet since 2010.

The Danish choreographer is under investigation by both the City Ballet and the School of the American Ballet.

Martins will not teach his weekly class at the school during the investigation, according to the Times.

It's been that way since he has been there. I guess they are going to drag down Balanchine posthumously too.

If you knew about the world of ballet. Balanchine died in 1983. He married several times, all to dancers in his companies. You should know that since you are from Oklahoma that one was one of the famous 5 Indian ballerinas Maria Tallchief.
I'm not going to judge the past based on today's standards.

1st heard about Tallchief in 6th grade. Forgot about her until an OK public radio show about 5(?) Native American ballerinas from OK.

Same thing with James Levine at the Met. Everyone knew about these men. Their power protected them... until it didn't.

....have been having affairs with the Impresario for decades. Suzanne Farrell and Balanchine to name but one in his long list of ballerinas.

They "claim such relationships encourage the muse" to inspire their choreography.
