Trump's personal banking information handed over to Robert Mueller

Donald Trumps banking information has formally been turned over to Robert Mueller, the special prosecutor who is investigating whether the presidents campaign conspired with the Kremlin during the 2016 presidential election.
Deutsche Bank, the German bank that serves as Trumps biggest lender, was forced to submit documents about its client relationship with the president and some of his family members, who are also Deutsche clients, after Mueller issued the bank with a subpoena for information, according to multiple media reports. The news was first reported by Handelsblatt, the German newspaper.
Deutsche Bank declined to comment. The bank told Bloomberg in a statement that it always cooperated with investigating authorities.
It also indicated that any investigation into Trump personally may not be limited to the question of whether or not the president sought to obstruct justice when he fired the former FBI chief James Comey. Instead, said Ryan Goodman, a New York law professor and former Pentagon counsel, it showed that Mueller was possibly examining whether the president could be compromised by Russian interests.

(90,021 posts)It's about time this fucking crook is exposed. Crooked Donald. Yeah, we're all still waiting to see your tax returns, Donald. HAND 'EM OVER, Dammit! I bet those tax returns tell one whale of a story! And as soon as we see 'em, it'll probably be abundantly clear why he's been hiding them.
If everything's on the up-'n'-up, Donald, then what's yer problem? If you've done nothing wrong, then you should have nothing to hide, true? Mind if we don't just take your word for it?

We're in the final two or three rounds of this match. Mueller has saved up his best knockout punch for last and tRump's on the ropes, withering under the pressure of his own lies and deceit.

And if Trump decides to fire Mueller? Too late. Ship sailed. He'll merely SPEED UP his removal from office!

(12,448 posts)This is enormous, and very very bad for Dump and family. He's always explicitly protected his finances, including of course his taxes. If there's anything illegal there (and my guess is that there's more than one thing) Mueller will find it.
We already know he has a pattern of cheating contractors, workers, and business associates. His bankruptcies were scams to line his pockets while shafting everyone else associated with his businesses (other than his family). It wouldn't be AT ALL surprising if some of his financial activities illegally involved Russians.

(23,882 posts)I suspect that 80%+++ of them would be given huge tax bills, if not convictions for tax evasions, if the examiners could have Mueller-type access to all of their records.
What a fun time to be a US citizen watching the "righteous" crumble under their own misdeeds!

(10,533 posts)So of course they are "Trumps biggest lender".
This is the crux of the Russians' influence on Trump.
They subsidize his business with their mob money. He needs them to stay afloat because no legitimate financiers will touch him. And they also know about all his dirty dealings to the last dollar. He can't afford to alienate them.
The "other" kompromat - sex perversion type stuff - is just extra insurance for them to keep him in line.

Wondering if siege mentality takes over and Trump decides to hole up somewhere and fight it out -where will it be: White House, Trump Tower, Post Office Hotel, Mar e Lago, or undisclosed location?
This past year sure takes the shine off the 'Imperial Presidency."

(17,802 posts)What the new ag could do first is to simply abolish he rule that established the sc in the first place. It isn't constitutional, and it didn't come about from legislation (that was the special prosecutor statute that expired under gop leadership).
The special council came about from a policy set in place by the then attorney general. It can be undonde by any AG willing to set aside the rule.
Once set aside, all authority for the SC would end, muehler and his staff would be gone, and all materials and work product would fall into the possession of doj prosecutors.
In short, the investigation would stop cold.
Now presumably, there are already sealed indictments against trump and the sc could petition the court to not allow the ag to close the investigation as an obstruction attempt.
Dubious. Even indictments would need to be prosecuted, and they could be set aside at any time as too weak to proceed.
So, it's a scary place and an instant constitutional crisis.
I think this is why they are being so calm (trump is calm, he is just dumpster fire while calm). Trump believes he holds the upper hand and can stop the train any time he wants to.
He believes he can stop an impeachment or conviction. There aren't 19 republicans who are brave enough to convict him in the senate.
He isn't worried because he is a bully and the GOP is weak.
