RNC launching multimillion-dollar effort to hit Dems on tax reform in 2018

The Republican National Committee (RNC) is gearing up to launch a multimillion-dollar effort at the start of 2018 aimed at vulnerable Democrats who voted against the GOPs tax bill.
In January, the RNC will institute the second phase of its data-focused field program to reach voters about details of the tax overhaul. There will also be a major digital ad component targeting Democrats on the ballot over opposition to the bill.
President Trump and Republicans celebrated the Wednesday passage of the plan, a $1.5 trillion bill that cuts tax rates for individuals and corporations and, among other things, repeals ObamaCares individual mandate and permits drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. But it's unclear whether the tax bill, which has regularly recorded mixed or negative approval ratings in polls, can be a winning issue for Republicans in 2018. A Monmouth University poll released Monday found 47 percent of respondents opposed the bill, while only 26 percent said they approved of it.
The RNC will focus on the 10 Democratic senators up for reelection in states that Trump carried in 2016. Republicans have a slim 51-seat majority in the Senate and will be looking to unseat those red-state Democrats since the party is largely on offense next year.

(14,176 posts)If they just sit back and think that the Fox addled public will actually know what is in the tax bill, other than they get cuts cuts cuts!!!! they, and we, will be very disappointed again.
And they have to do even more than gentlemanly ads. Going high ads. They have to come out with sleeves rolled up. Hire ad folks that will create scare ads like Repugs do. Only ours will be based on facts. But even that's not good enough. Because they will run ads that lie about the facts, or have their own "facts".
I'd like to see Dem ad makers put out initial ads sure, but have some, or even most of the dough left in the pot on a stand by basis. Have a crack team of talented creative ad people that will create ads on the go in reaction to Republican ads that are based on lies. Use the same footage, or similar, of the same imagery that those falsehood ads used to rebuf, rebuke, re-educate instantly the very next day. Something I thought John Kerry failed to do when he was relentlessly swift-boated with smears.
Don't be afraid to get dirty. Paint the Republicans in the most evil light possible. The facts are horrific einough, no need to make anyting up. Use quotes from the CBO. Use quotes from former Republicans that have seen the light. Use strong language against their character in being greedy and heartless. Be bold, be unfair, be relentless.

(17,390 posts)Yeah, I am sure that they will need to hide the fact that they voted against a huge give away to the rich. I am at a loss as to how they might respond. I bet Bernie will say, "Hey, populism means tax cuts for racism!"

(52 posts)a $1.5 trillion bill for future generations, that temporarily cuts tax rates for individuals mostly in the upper-income brackets. and permanently for wall-street corporations and, among other things, endangers ObamaCare by repealing the individual mandate and permits drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Yes, this is a winner.

Neither does standing with a traitor make you less of one.

(10,207 posts)Next up, the GOP targets Democratic Senators for being too democratic. Claiming that Americans really want feudal lords, the GOP are targeting Democrats who are standing in the way of King Trump and Lady Malaria of America.
And...the GOP leadership claims Democratic Senators failed to murder babies and run over puppies. RepubliCON Senators voted in the mass murder and dead puppies bill and claim that Democrats are vulnerable in upcoming elections because of their failure to support infanticide and puppy murder.

In fact I am going to donate to a man that has said this about AYN RAND RYAN.............
Just the first words on the google search says everything when you see the link:

"My values are my neighbors' values, and we know that Washington has gotten way off track. Whether it's healthcare or jobs, national security or education, our democracy or the environment there's not one issue where Paul Ryan and Donald Trump are headed in the right direction. It's time for a change in Congress."

(3,363 posts)want to cut their taxes (despite that only being sort of true temporarily) while Dems want to raise them.
They're counting on their stupid base to continue to believe in the trickle down myth.

(10,857 posts)The corporate monsters aren't just handing out Christmas bonuses to all their employees because they are kind.
They're handing them out because they're going to recover at least that much money by laying off employees next year. And election day is too late in the year to reap the rewards. The bonuses encourage the suckers to stick around instead of jumping ship while there are sill other jobs to be had.
So yes, put your money into the "vulnerable Democrats." Democrats in the meantime, will be targeting vulnerable Republicans, which will be all of them.
If Donnie and crew can't scrape up another 9/11 by then, the GOP is probably going to be in some trouble. Not enough to punish them for the agony they have caused, but some.
