Source: Newsweek
A military physician, Dr. Ronny Jackson, did the exam at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Jackson also performed President Barack Obamas last physical in March 2016.
Trumps body mass index, which is 29.9, means hes considered overweight. He's gained about three pounds since last year. That number is just squeaking under the line between "overweight" and "obese."
(For comparison's sake, Obamas last reported BMI was 22.8.) Trump's total cholesterol has also risen from 169 last year to 223; his level of so-called "bad" cholesterol has also increased from 94 to 143.
Trumps baseline risk for a heart attack is about 16 percent, according to one calculator ( http://www.cvriskcalculator.com/ ) that uses guidelines established by the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association. That is your risk of having a heart attack in the next ten years, Dr. Leigh Simmons, also an internist at Massachusetts General, explained.

Trump takes an aspirin and a low dose of a statin (cholesterol-lowering) drug. He will be increasing the cholesterol drug, according to the examining physician, Dr. Ronny Jackson, quoted in the article.
A BMI of 30 is the lower boundary of obese. So he's under that by just 0.1 points.
And wow on the increase in the cholesterol levels.
Not a word in this article about what his blood pressure is.
Nothing about maybe a better diet to improve his "excellent health".

Some key stats that are not included in the above (with a couple exceptions, e.g. cholesterol):
# Weight: 239 pounds, Height: 6'3" (75" ),
(from the Newsweek article, not from the doctor's report: BMI: 29.9 -- obese begins at 30.0)
# Blood pressure: 122/74. Resting heart rate: 68 bpm
# Cognitive Screening Exam using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment was normal with a score of 30/30
This OP has a picture of it: https://www.democraticunderground.com/100210109477
# Total cholesterol: 223, HDL (good) cholesterol: 67, LDL (bad) cholesterol: 143, Cholesterol to HDL ratio: 3.3
# Triglycerides: 129 mg/DL
# Hemoglobin A1C: 5.0%
Medications:
Rosuvastatin (Crestor). 10 mg daily to lower cholesterol
Aspirin: 81 mg daily for cardiac health
Finasteride (Propecia). 1 mg daily for prevention of male pattern hair loss.
Ivermectin Cream (Soolantra). As needed for treatment of Rosacea
Multi-vitamin (Centrum Silver).
Summary: The President's overall health is excellent. His cardiac performance during his physical exam was very good. ... We discussed diet, exercise and weight loss. He would benefit from a diet that is lower in fat and carbohydrates and from a routine exercise regimen. He has a history of elevated cholesterol and is currently on a low dose of Rosuvastatin. In order to further reduce his cholesterol level and further decrease his cardiac risk, we will increase the dose of this particular medication ...

(12,975 posts)according to the article,
I don't think many doctors consider those excellent heart health numbers.
"Diet and/or exercise were mentioned; he prefers dealing with the issues via diet rather than exercise."
Nothing said about either diet or exercise in the Newsweek article linked to in the OP, but I don't doubt that Newsweek didn't cover everything important in the article.

(60,159 posts)But it says he takes statins AND a low dose of a cholesterol drug...
progree
(12,975 posts)From the article:
Jackson noted that Trump would be increasing the dose of statin he is taking, which should decrease his risk further. "The dose of his cholesterol medicine is very low, so we have a lot of room to increase that," Jackson said on Tuesday. But any benefit assumes Trump will take it regularlywhich, Simmons noted, only about 50 percent of people do after six months.

(20,590 posts)99. No report on what his A1C is. Looking at him, his sedentary life style, and his diet.......I'd say he's pushing 9.0, but that's just a wild guess. I watch mine like a hawk and I'm usually in the 7.3 - 7.5 range. Trump watches nothing but his waistline increase.

I am pretty sure his weight was under-reported at 239 for a 6.3 ft. male. I would say he's in the 270's at least.
The doctors said they had been preparing for this physical exam for weeks. ??

(1,279 posts)I had an MRI of my brain and it showed that I have vascular dementia. The MRI showed that I have had a series of minor strokes. Even minor strokes where you don't even know you had them can cause blockage of blood to different parts of the brain. I would think that an MRI would be done on any President as part of their annual physical.

(14,782 posts)I would estimate Dirty Donald is at least 1-inch shorter than President Obama, depending how much you allow for the bouffant. That would put him closer to 6-ft. even.
Maybe he forgot to wear his heels, LOL.

My blood pressure, ughh, is 145/90. Pulse is 59-60 though which is fantastic.
I know I have to get on some B.P. meds. 3 1/2 years ago my systolic was typically like 118. Then it started creeping up. Its been stable for couple years, but its too high.

(6,384 posts)When I heard on the news this morning that Trump's stats were so good, I did wonder. He's overweight, doesn't exercise outside the golf course, eats very unhealthy food, and I even wondered about the perfect vision - very unusual for a man of nearly 71.
But this doctor served Obama as well, and I wondered - how do they pick these people? You'd like to think a doctor going on record would tell the truth.
Is he to be believed?

(17,615 posts)I live in a community where most of the people are seniors. My cohorts are quite active. They cross country ski, mow their own lawns, run or walk at the park, ride bikes, play pickle ball, and yes, golf. One guy is in the senior olympics every year for swimming. He gets up at 4:30 every morning to go to the pool to swim.
This asshat rides in a golf cart and picks up a club to hit a little ball occasionally. Other than that, he doesn't do anything else, so no, he is NOT active.
