Trump: Democrats want 'unchecked illegal immigration'

President Trump early Saturday charged that Democrats are at fault for the government shutdown because they want "unchecked illegal immigration."

“Democrats are holding our Military hostage over their desire to have unchecked illegal immigration,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Can’t let that happen!”

The shutdown began at midnight after the Senate failed to pass a continuing resolution (CR) to keep the government funded.

At the center of the spending bill negotiations has been the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which Trump said last year he would rescind while providing lawmakers with time to craft a legislative fix.

My whole lifetime, immigration has been controlled, with some modification on quotas. Even though humankind's nature seems to be to wander, borders limit our movements. So even if limits on individual movement is arbitrary, we will have them. And the racist ideas of many people clawing their way into power will limit movement further still, because evidently, with great power, comes great fear.

the Entertainment Tonight of journalism, just get the information out in 5 minute sound bites, and then to top it all off, have ads, for drugs, cars, home appliance insurance, and such, and, only have whats called "news" in a half hour or one hour format, only let it be 20 minutes in the half hour and forty minutes in the hour, the rest in commercials----------------the dumbing down of America------------with sound bites..................we need the Fairness Doctrine, we really do.

I don't think anyone is for unchecked immigration, although America was founded on that ideal - we don't refuse anyone who legitimately wants to come in good faith and make a life for themselves.

I just realized that perhaps this aversion to Mexicans immigrating has a dark advantage for business: if they had an easy path to legitimately immigrate and did so, the pool of cheap illegal labor would dry up.
