Biden hits Trump on Porter response

Source: The Hill

BY MAX GREENWOOD - 02/09/18 04:16 PM EST

Former Vice President Joe Biden on Friday ripped President Trump over his response to domestic abuse allegations against former White House aide Rob Porter, saying his handling of his job has no bearing on his alleged wrongdoing.

Speaking to fraternity and sorority leaders at the Association of Fraternal Leaders and Values Central Conference in Indianapolis, Biden said that Trump's praise of Porter, the former White House staff secretary, downplayed the significance of domestic abuse allegations against him.

"I just read before I walked on stage a statement from the president saying he wishes him luck, he has so much talent," Biden said. "That's like saying, 'that axe murderer out there, he's a great painter.'"

"Translate this into everyday terms. Is there any other crime — and it's a crime — where there would be an explanation that the reason why we shouldn't pay attention to the transgression is because they're good at something?"

However no condemnation, no saying “if true it’s appalling,” nothing. Also not a word about the two women. Apologize? Nope! This administration doubles down. Does anyone think Kelly resigns, or gets fired? I have my doubts. By the way Good on you Joe!!

I think it was she who remarked “he, he, he, he, he, he. It’s all about him. Nothing about the women.”

Indeed. The women this asshole abused, what about THEM? He only cares about how “sad” it was that it happened to the wife-beater!?!

Donald tRump has SAID he's innocent. Case closed, scandal over, RIGHT??!? Move on, and be sure to clap for our Dear Leader!

Rob Porter says he's an innocent victim in all this--of COURSE he is! I mean, face the FACTS, it's CLEARLY his ex-wives who are at fault. If Colbie Holderness had not VIOLENTLY forced her face in to the path of Porter's fist, she would never have gotten that black eye. And if she hadn't ANGRILY placed her neck between his hands--in a moment of prayer, I am SURE--then he would never have choked her. So OBVIOUSLY, it's all her fault, and it's almost certainly the same for Jennifer Willoughby.

Some women just CANNOT stop themselves when it comes to violently abusing men.

POTUS Trump is in the White House.
He's there because hes supposed to be the BEST businessman who could MAGA, the only one who could, he told us.
Yet he defaulted on loans, went bankrupt 4 times, grabbed women by the pussy, sexually assaulted women, defrauded people in a fake university scam.
Colluded with Russia, possibly laundered money...... need I go on?

That is why the man can make the outrageous comment he did. Because he has done it and more and gotten away with it.

One only hopes that he will be held accountable soon.

"Is there any other crime — and it's a crime — where there would be an explanation that the reason why we shouldn't pay attention to the transgression is because they're good at something?"

is too frequently yes. It starts by telling kids "if you're good at sportsball we'll look the other way at your crappy grades and your bullying and your drunk driving and your sexual harassment and then, as long as there's not absolute tangible proof, your assaults or rapes or worse".

It's not just sports, but that's the most obvious one. If you're rich and white and have decent grades, the punishment for any crime you commit is likely to be mitigated by "She's a honors student" or "He has a promising medical career ahead of him".

Meanwhile if you're poor and not white, you get the book thrown at you.

Not trying to criticize Biden, but I think you also need to look at the culture which spawned the Trump White House. They're just the tip of white privilege iceberg.
