ON A THURSDAY afternoon in November 2015, a light snow was falling outside the windows of the Ecuadorian embassy in London, despite the relatively warm weather, and Julian Assange was inside, sitting at his computer and pondering the upcoming 2016 presidential election in the United States.
In little more than a year, WikiLeaks would be engulfed in a scandal over how it came to publish internal emails that damaged Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, and the extent to which it worked with Russian hackers or Donald Trump’s campaign to do so. But in the fall of 2015, Trump was polling at less than 30 percent among Republican voters, neck-and-neck with neurosurgeon Ben Carson, and Assange spoke freely about why WikiLeaks wanted Clinton and the Democrats to lose the election.
“We believe it would be much better for GOP to win,” he typed into a private Twitter direct message group to an assortment of WikiLeaks’ most loyal supporters on Twitter. “Dems+Media+liberals woudl then form a block to reign in their worst qualities,” he wrote. “With Hillary in charge, GOP will be pushing for her worst qualities., dems+media+neoliberals will be mute.” He paused for two minutes before adding, “She’s a bright, well connected, sadistic sociopath.”

(6,045 posts)It has only been recently that Ive begun checking out what they’re reporting. But I can’t help wondering what I can trust coming from The Intercept knowing Greenwald is an editor & I know for a fact he has no problem at all spinning reality to fit the narrative he wants to tell, putting words in people’s mouths & outright lying especially if he disagrees with the person, persons or group he is reporting on...And most certainly if he doesn’t like them for whatever the reason!! Plus, his obvious disdain for the US, it’s military & Intel Agencies taken all together renders anything he has to say completely untrustworthy & suspect.
The reason I’ve begun paying cautious attention to The Intercept now is after all of Greenwald’s disgusting claims the Russians had absolutely nothing to do with anything that happened during the 2016 election The Intercept still published the documents leaked to them by Reality Winner that not only alerted the American public the Russians were far more involved in the 2016 election than our government had told us up to that point...It exposed Glenn Greenwald as the biased journalistic FRAUD he is!!!

Truth is, he is the one easily controlled. His lies are easily shown as such. His type of uber-simplistic libertarian-anarchy is usually nothing more than a convenient tool easily controlled and manipulated by those who played up on his need for attention.

(62,536 posts)The "collateral murder" video did not lead to any prosecutions at all (indeed, it led more to a discussion of rules of engagement and justifying death from above).
They have done nothing but whatever benefits themselves.
And it amuses me that anti-statists would be pro-Russian because of their "small economy."
That "small economy" has been slowly annexing countries and has the second* largest arsenal of nukes on the planet.
(* I know they claim more than the US but I suspect their program is under disrepair and is not real)

What a manipulative, bitter creep. Assange is an "ends justifies the means" type by the look of it. A jaded crook who thinks everyone is as morally bankrupt as he is.
This is pretty damning. It pretty much confirms he's been manipulating the puplic and co-ordinating cyber attacks.
Glad the truth is coming out, bit by bit.
EDIT: People are saying on the articles twitter that Assanges comments weren't sexist/racist. I'm very quickly losing my faith in humanity.
