WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — President Trump plans to meet with high school students on Wednesday in the wake of last week’s deadly school shooting in Parkland, Fla.

The White House announced Sunday that Trump will host a “listening session” with both students and teachers, followed by a similar event Thursday with state and local officials to discuss school safety. No further details were provided.

High school students have been some of the most vocal advocates for new gun laws in response to last Wednesday’s shooting, which left 17 students and staff dead.

Emma Gonzalez, a student from Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school where the shooting took place, called out Trump during an impassioned speech at a pro-gun control rally Saturday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., roughly 40 miles from where the president is spending the holiday weekend.

If they do not follow the given directions and take off on their own, and speak the truth, then you will see Mr Trump lose it in ways we have not seen before. He will have to leave in the middle of the program.. It took me years of teaching high school to figure out how to respond honestly and directly to difficult questions the students ask and respond with to what I said.

Trump thinks he can control the game, but if the rules are fair, he has lost just by agreeing to play. The students are smarter than him. Take it from someone who has been there.

It just says he's going to meet with high school students and teachers. It doesn't specifically say which school or schools they attend, or who or how many will be selected to be in the group. Given this WH's tendency to distort (lie), I can't believe it's going to Parkland HS students. No matter the case, I am sure the participants will be carefully vetted to ensure their loyalties are pro-Trump (look at parents' party affiliation) and they're sufficiently cowed by being in the presence of the Great One Himself that they won't challenge him (i.e., don't let any seniors in the room -- limit it to freshmen). Actually, I think his "listening session" will involve the students and teachers listening while Donnie Two Scoops goes on and on about how it's Obama's fault the attack occurred, and if the FBI hadn't been wasting time with the fake Russia investigation, "No collusion!", they would have been protected.

I would pay to see a one-on-one conversation with IQ45 and Emma Gonzalez.

Trump has proposed to cut funds to programs that fund crime prevention in schools as well as money to help schools and students address tragedies like school shootings etc.

He is also cutting funds for special needs programs at schools counseling etc...
