White House says Trump son-in-law Kushner can do job without security clearance

Source: Reuters

FEBRUARY 20, 2018 / 4:10 PM / UPDATED 29 MINUTES AGO

Reuters Staff

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, can continue in his role as a senior White House adviser even if he does not obtain a security clearance, the White House said on Tuesday.

Kushner has been operating under a temporary clearance for the past year while the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducts a background investigation. Under an order issued on Friday by White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, Kushner will lose the temporary clearance in less than a week.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders told reporters that Kushner will continue the work he has been doing the past year whether he gets a full security clearance or not. He has been trying to get the Israelis and Palestinians back to the negotiating table.

Why is Kushner making the most requests for classified material than any White House official

https://thinkprogress.org/serious-questions-are-mounting-about-jared-kushners-security-clearance-b9195674fba8/

Serious questions are swirling around Jared Kushner’s security clearance — which is still pending more than a year after he entered the White House, even as Kushner reportedly requests more intelligence information than almost any other White House official.

According to new reports by the Washington Post, White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly announced on February 16 that starting next week some people with interim security clearances will not be able to access top-secret information. This could include Trump’s son-in-law, whose clearance has been the subject of controversy for some time.

that is punishable up to 5 years in the federal slammer, you do realize that there is little thing called rule of law...................he and you violated that rule.................he is fucked, he is not special, he is fucked....................

And as a citizen of this country and someone that had to fill out a F86 form to work in a classified setting, Congress has the ability to direct and compel the FBI and DOJ to do something about this-----------------you cannot turn your proverbial traitorous nose up in the air and not comply with the law, the NSA and CIA can force your "guy" to show his clearance and if he is not allowed to see---------------they can deny access and not show anyone, and ask if it is a NEED TO KNOW......................to your "guy" and he will an can be asked to leave...............

These assholes are trying to normalize the blatant criminality of what they are doing, like they are "special" they are not special, this favoritism, or in essence this nepotism shows what is happening in everything that the crime team are doing.

What happens the Friday under the new directive by the racists Kelly................we will see, but I am not holding my breath, I hope the media, hammers these criminals if he is still allowed have that bogus clearance after this Friday deadline

They want him to see security info so he can continue to try and profit from it, both for himself and his "wife's" family and so he can share with russia if circumstances make it so that orange assface can't. As far as Israel and Palestinians, that too is a total lie. Being a major zionist, they are not even handed but trying to make the palestinians agree to having all their land stolen by Israelis and to being virtual slaves to the jews.

Besides it's i llegal for him to have access to the high highest level of confidential information when he's a risk. This is 100% illegal and stupid. I so hope Mueller has him on state charges as well so the entire family of thieves traitors and destroyers can be stripped of all their assets in state court.

are our "representatives" on this????????????????????????????????????????????

If it's OK to just simply ignore laws (and I'm not talkin' about throwing litter around or having a smoke in a no-smoking zone!), why aren't our reps renting a bulldozer just like the one the GOP/Trump cabal is using? Fucking COS (actually, POS) General Kelly puts his foot down only to have the rug yanked from under him! Do we REALLY have to wait for Mueller? Do we really have to stand by and watch the once proud pillars of our democracy, smashed and made into landfill while we cross our fingers for November???

I love Schiff and Warren and the other few voices from the void we hear. But these folks MAKE the rules - only to murmur discontent as they watch those laws fed into a shredder.

There's no real government at the moment - just Donald J Capone and his ruffians! Whatever "enforcement types" there once were - their job description has been executive order - rewritten to wear the title "Door men". Holding open the doors to our treasury while Big Don hauls out the loot.

required to submit the report for classification and return all field information, his notes, and drafts. Several months later, he want to see the report and was denied because he did not have a need to know. Getting more ridiculous, when I got my first security classification, I was notified by the investigator by telephone. I asked what level I got, and his response was "that is classified information, and you do not have the sufficient security level to have that information."

I had a top secret clearance. I once ran a long range patrol into Cambodia, where we stayed for three days. When I wrote my after-action report, it was immediately classified SCI and my notes for it were destroyed -- after all, there were no American troops in Cambodia, LBJ had said so.

I asked if I could have it back because I wanted to rewrite part of it. I was told I couldn't read it because I didn't have clearance. It made no difference that I had written it.

Whenever this WH chooses to break a rule or tradition (show tax forms, put assets in a blind trust, obey the laws like the one strengthening sanctions against Russia, obey the emoluments clause, restricting who has access to Top Secret documents), it seems they say the same thing: the rules don't apply to us.

His brief is so nebulous, who knows? A job usually has defined responsibilities and authority.

For what he has accomplished so far, he has no need of any intelligence. Both kinds of intelligence!
