Todd Akin will stay in Senate race, apologizes on Huckabee radio show

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by cyberswede (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

U.S. Rep. Todd Akin apologized on Mike Huckabee's radio show today for comments he made about rape, and said he will remain in Missouri's U.S. Senate race.

"I'm not a quitter," Akin said.

"We all make mistakes," Akin said. "The many people who supported me know that when you make a mistake what you need to do is say you're sorry."

Akin said no party leaders have called him and asked for him to drop out.

"This was a very very serious error," Akin said.

They'll vote for Satan before they'll vote for someone who votes with that "Kenyan Socialist Muslim"

I rather doubt Huckabee reprimanded/criticized him or told him to drop out of the race.

These types always run to a church/minister to give credence to the error of their ways. Problem is, as soon as the heat is gone, they go right back to acting out their normal, assinine ways.

Don't trust him and don't vote for him.

If so, then Huckabee's radio show will reject it.

Huckabee's radio show has ways to shut it down.

I am shocked.

On the other hand, I'd like to be the first to congratulate Ms. McCaskill on her re-election!

you said what you believe, you ignorant misogynistic git. 32,000 women who get pregnant from rape. Many are young and have no idea what is happening - they try to keep quiet and don't get help until the third trimester, if at all.

Before his comments Akin was leading Senator Clair McCaskill by 9% in the August 9 Survey-USA poll - let's hope his comments send his down.
