The FBI search and seizure warrants executed against President Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen mentioned President Trump's name several times, sources familiar with the documents tell CBS News' Jeff Pegues. Sources who've seen the warrants told Pegues it appeared to them that the real target of the raids was Mr. Trump. One source called it a "search and destroy mission."
The search warrants also listed records related to the release of the so-called "Access Hollywood" tape, sources familiar with the matter told CBS News' Andres Triay and Len Tepper. The New York Times first reported the connection to the tape. The warrants executed at Cohen's office, hotel room and home became public knowledge Monday.

(253 posts)Hope they have found a treasure trove of documents directly implicating Trump. I suppose we will know at some point in the near future. I, for one, am anxiously awaiting Trump's removal from office.

(18,628 posts)Don't they have basic cable? Perhaps there's something there that didn't make the news, but I can't imagine what.

(5,477 posts)it's probably more about any correspondence or documents related to the tapes, and any conspiratorial attempts to suppress them or pay off people to bury the story. That comes back to 'donations in kind' to the campaign, among other things.

(128,905 posts)that had to do with the timing of the release of the Podesta emails from Wikileaks - literally an hour after the Access Hollywood tape came out, so the suggestion was who might have coordinated that release (i.e., gave the "go" order).
Doing some quick scans of past info, apparently the dossier asserts that one of Cohen's trips to Europe may have involved discussions about Russia's hacking of Democratic targets, specifically during a trip to Prague. Cohen denied going to Prague by offering his passport as "proof", but if he was traveling within the EU, there would be no separate passport stamp showing a trip to the Czech Republic, which is a part of the EU, when traveling there from some other EU nation.

Congressional investigators are also trying to ascertain whether Cohen, one of Trumps longest-serving and most trusted advisers, met with Russian operatives somewhere in Europe, including Prague, where the dossier alleges he attended a meeting to clean up the mess created by public disclosures of other Trump associates reported ties to Russia.
Cohen has come under close scrutiny for several Trump-Russia controversies, including emailing Putins spokesman two weeks before the first GOP primary to ask for his help in advancing a proposal to build a Trump Tower development project in Moscow. He also was linked to a proposed pro-Russian peace plan for Ukraine involving Felix Sater, a former Trump business associate with Russian government connections.
Cohen has strenuously denied that a Prague meeting occurred, and he provided a copy of his passport to BuzzFeed in May. The passport was stamped for entry and exit to the United Kingdom and Italy but not the Czech Republic, whose capital is Prague. I have never been to Prague in my life. #fakenews, Cohen tweeted on Jan. 10.
His passport stamps show that he traveled twice to London in 2016 and once to Italy, from July 9 to July 17.
Several people close to then-candidate Trump visited Europe during and after the campaign, including foreign policy adviser Carter Page. Cohens passport would not show any record of a visit to Prague if he entered the EU through Italy, traveled to the Czech Republic, and then returned to his point of EU entry. A congressional official said the issue is still active for investigators.

Take note that the RNC convention took place from July 18 - 21. Plus note that since the Czech Republic is also part of NATO, it's possible that the CIA/FBI may have surveillance info from that country regarding Cohen being there.
