Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said Sunday that if his and former FBI Director James Comeys roles had been reversed in the 2016 election, Comey would have fired him.
Christie homed in on comments by Comey saying that polling showing Hillary Clinton leading President Trump had led him to believe that Clinton would be elected president.
This in turn influenced Comey's decision to effectively reopen an investigation into whether Clinton had sent classified information through a personal server she used as secretary of State 11 days before the election, a decision Clinton and her aides have said cost her the White House.
When I worked for Jim, if I had said to him 11 days before an election that I was going to release information that could potentially affect the election, and one of the things that influenced me was polling, he would have fired me. He would have fired me on the spot, Christie said during an appearance on ABC's "This

(52,123 posts)comey's after-the-fact rationalization of his inexcusable actions is laughably false.
there's zero chance comey did it because he wanted to do hillary a political favor, based on polling and based on his perception of the perceived legitimacy of a hillary presidency had waited until he determined if there were any new emails before making the information public.
the excuse is a lie, made up after the fact, because comey can't admit (possibly to himself) that he caved to republican pressure.
that said, christie's right. comey's violated at least two doj policies knowing it would have an impact on the election. claiming it was to help hillary's legitimacy doesn't make it any less of a violation of doj policies.

(7,520 posts)Does that invalidate all of his other testimony?
Is that why Trump is firing people left and right...so nobody will believe what they say? Because he is such a shrewd judge of character?
Trump has the mind of a sociopathic con-artist. Firing people at the end of the week doesn't remove them from existence like on THE APPRENTICE.

(9,426 posts)name ONE woman who would be hired as a TV contributor, if she looked like Christie? Why not criticize his weight? Didn't taxpayers foot the bill for his weight loss surgery? Didn't he close the beaches on a holiday weekend , then take his entire family to the beach to enjoy the weekend? He dodged the bullet for the bridge fiasco. If he will not face responsivbility for the errors in judgement he makes, then at least give us the satisfaction of pointing out that he is a glutton.

(3,426 posts)And I think there is more to it than we know. Regarding Christie, I think it is appalling that the networks will give him a venue to spill out his over inflated right trump wing talking points. After all, it was Christie who called Rubio a slim ball at Christie's last appearance as a candidate during the primaries. So Trump takes the low ,calls Comey a slim ball and Christie goes high putting on his gentleman act. Christie's loyalty is all too obvious. And oh, he really did fool a lot of people with that act. Call that tag teaming, because that's just what it is. Christie wants that dream job real bad. And Trump, he's holding the carrot.
